Minutus

I was always taught to instruct patients to use disposable cups and spoons when taking remedies (water doses), but I never really understood why. I'm fairly sure H didn't have a stack of plastic cups at his disposal, so I was wondering where it comes from. Some people told me it's more to do with the "nasty nosodes" or heavy duty poisons leaving something of themselves in regular crockery or glassware.
Can anyone enlighten me on this? Patients ask me why - and I find I don't have a clear answer for them. And then there are also the ecological aggravations...the "plastic cup mountain" in my mind's eye is constantly and ominously growing....

Where does the "boiling for half an hour" come from? Does the concern about re-dosing date back to H's time, or to homeopaths afterwards? I'd like to know the source.
Maybe the poor seedlings would become infected with Carcinosin? Not sure that would be fair..!

placing the implements on a heated surface (glowing coals!) as an extra
precaution. Just washing a porous surface with water is obviously not enough
to remove every trace of potentized material so heat is required to nullify
any residual potency.

I second you. Three cheers for Chris. That description of Hahnemann boiling of his mortar and pestle was the most convincing. I heard all the hype about glassware, figured that glass was a kind of liquid sooooo.... I ended telling patients they couldn't use household glasses. Their stress made me feel stressed.
