Cat with mastitis - anyone with experience ? Somewhat urgent.

Hi everyone,

My daughter's cat has 4/5 week old little kittens and the mum has developed this
mastitis (as of Monday) and has been given loads of stuff from the vet, but I
wondered if there was anything that I could give her homeopathically? This is a
family pet, so it is not illegal. The mum is under a year herself and had her first set
of 4 kitties when she was only 7/8 months old, and this is her second set, so she's a
bit on the amorous side (!).

I wondering if it might be a side effect of the contraceptive Pill she's been given
(until she is given the snip)? She has been taken off it temporarily under the vet's
advice and kept indoors. It is hard to characterise with a cat, but here goes:

Normally a fairly undemonstrative cat --- prefers being out than in, and is quite a
timorous creature, certainly distrustful of strangers and tends to disappear out the
nearest exit. With this condition, she has changed to wanting to stay quiet, inside,
but not wanting affection.

She is oozing from 4 v. red teats (two ok at the front). Clear fluid.

Appetite diminished, and thirst.

Not mewing more -- quiet and out of sorts.

Walking slightly oddly - possible swelling causing this?

Not told if she has a temperature - but may be to be expected.

No aetiology known - except lactation and contraceptive pill.
She has been given Metacam and an a/b to take (Mesamox??), but I would really
love to give her something too. Apis springs to mind, but would prefer to hear
from less subjective people. I need to act quite fast, as my daughter was told by
the vet it is potentially v. serious.

TIA, Barbara
