Minutus

A patient has asked me if there's a remedy to help her stop the annoying (to her) habit of pushing saliva through her front teeth with her tongue. Uhhh........

Can someone help me figure out what rubric(s) might apply?

Gestures repeated, obviously. But is there a more specific one?

How about "MIND; GESTURES, makes; automatic (SRI-554) (9) : anac., calc.,
cann-i., hell., hyos., nux-m., phos., tab., zinc".- or "Automatic behaviour, acts" ? Is
it a childhood habit that is hard to break, or is it unconscious and almost convulsive
or like a spasm ?

I've just tried doing this myself and it's quite hard unless you've got
gaps in your teeth. So maybe it's a sensation thing she likes. There is
some interesting little sub rubrics in the Salivation section. Maybe
she is making a lot of saliva and needs to move it a round instead of
swallowing 'Salivation, profuse, with a constant desire to spit'
(although she is not spitting because it isn't nice to spit);
'Salivation, in gushes'; or as already suggested it is more of a
nervous and automatic origin. Always a good idea to ask the individual
why they think they do such an action as this line of enquiry can often

What rubrics might apply for someone whose acutes are seldom or never
accompanied by fever--where the person looks and feels ill, sometimes
even very ill, but the temperature is always either normal, or even
below normal (this person is probably hypothyroid; I keep forgetting to
have her check that!)?

Does "lack of reaction" cover that, if not what, what exactly does this
rubric mean?

Low white cell count, low cortisol can also foster this.

Yes check the thyroid, but while hypothyroid tends to be cold or
temp below normal as their usual state if untreated, hypothyroid
by itself doesn't necessarily have the inability to spike a fever.

History of abuse can sometimes have low white cell count - it
became contra-survival to try to fight the abusor, or the person
was conflicted because the abusor was a family member, anyhow
developed some ambivalence whether it was more prosurvival or
contrasurvival to fight. Fever is a form of fight, self-defense.

Possibly 'fever, heat absent' or 'fever, inflammatory fever, does not
reach a high grade' or ' fever, insidious'

Although this sounds more like an underlying chronic if this is
happening a lot. Also the thyroid levels will fluctuate causing more
discrepancies with thermals.

Lack of reaction usually means lack of reaction to remedies.

Sorry, have realised you probably mean lack of reaction as something
else - there are sub rubrics to this such as lack of reaction to acute
danger; in exanthema; at menopause; after suppression etc but they are

Okay, I was eyeing that one...
That one doesn't appear in my rep--but what does "inflammatory fever"
mean, anyway? I don't know what would point me to the rubric...
Mm, that's a nice one I hadn't seen before! I gather it means a fever
that sneaks up on you--not high or strong, yet draining, something like
that?

Yes, that's what I'm thinking. So maybe it shouldn't be part of my
repping for her specific acutes? (Obviously hasn't been so far!) But
if it seems like the relevant rubric(s) would be good to peruse as I'm
working out her next constitutional?
How do you mean--that it will be hard to determine just where "fever"
begins for her?

Hm, but that's one of the sub-rubrics (with only four rxs in it)...
Well, any thoughts about what rubrics I might look at for her chronic
case?
