There was an interesting exchange on another list about this, a few
years back. Suriya Osman talked about her experience using
ACTH/corticosteroid in low potency to ... um, my paraphrasing would be,
to re-balance the VF and reestablish appropriate sensitivity, after
long-term steroid use. Several people mentioned that these patients
can be very hard to treat homeopathically because they're prone to
violent aggravations (others with experience in the matter please
correct or clarify if needed!); some homeopaths won't even try to use
homeopathy on someone who has had long-term steroid use (and I assume
this is the reason).
Suriya found (by happy accident) that potentized cortico/ACTH removed
the steroid side-effects as well as in some cases solving the problem
for which they had been given in the first place!
ACTH is (if I have this right) on of the major hormones of the adrenal
cortex. It regulates a wide range of reactions within the body,
including inflammatory responses, "allergy", electrolyte balance, and
general "stress resistance" (and ??). (Again, I don't have a full and
clear memory of these details, so invite others to add or correct if
necessary!) A condition for which steroids are "indicated" is (at
least according to some authors) an indication that the adrenal cortex
is weak, and not doing its job fully; steroids can "fill in the gaps"
to some degree, but unsatisfactorily, because they cannot stand in for
*all* of the hormones, cannot perform *all* of the tasks that a
well-functioning adrenal cortex will handle.
When steroids are given long-term, the adrenal cortex sort of "gives
up"(?) and (to some degree?) stops secreting ACTH *and* several other
important hormones, thus giving rise to (some of?) the steroid side
effects. Potentized ACTH/cortico can bring the adrenal cortex back
on-line, so that it can start performing its *entire* job again. And
it seems that what we refer to as "vital force", as well as issues
relating to "over-sensitivity", difficulty maintaining homeostasis, are
just "all about" adrenal function in general (mainly adrenal cortex, I
believe)...
Because I'm "writing and running" again, I'm sort of leaving this
hanging... But I find the topic so fascinating, and this seems such a
potentially valuable tool, that I thought I'd mention it! I'm curious
whether anyone here has had occasion to try using ACTH in this way?
