Minutus

Can anyone help me find the rubric for this one? The patient has a general desire sweets, but the 4 pm craving is very strong.

Kind of shouts Lycopodium but you'd be better to cross refer the
craving fro sweets with the general rubric of <<< 4pm.

The case does not look like Lyc to me. Probably the most outstanding aspect of the case is an "addiction" to routine, together with a tendency to carry all responsibility while remaining cheerful and not complaining. Presenting complaints: constipation and hair loss.
I can't write more as I don't have permission.
Any ideas?

Why 4pm - is it a lull and wants to eat out of boredom, a dip in energy
levels at this time (very common when you see so many people chomping
on chocolate bars when they leave work). What else happens at this
time? In other words how highly ranked is this sx within the whole of
the case. Anything else <<< at this time? What kind of sweets are
desired and is there any digestive reaction?

The 'cheerful and not complaining' would probably rule out Lyc then
even though you will find Lycopodium in the 'Cheerful' rubric -
possibly Carcinosin; Anacardium shares a similar <<< 4pm as does
Chelidonium. Maybe one of the magnesiums - always wanting this to be
balanced and cheerful.

Is the need for sweets the person's time for a reward for being so
responsible and cheerful. I go back to carcinosin again.

Just a few ideas, but difficult without further information. best

I have only a partial understanding of Aurum, but would an Aurum
patient likely present as "cheerful"? What do others think?

Several years ago I posted on exactly this showing what happens if you
remove the 'suicidal' aspects and just look at the positive side of
aur.

I think Aur and Nat-m can present in a very similar fashion in the
sense that they can be very good at covering up what's going on deep
down, so good sometimes they don't see it themselves. The clue to AUR
for me is usually INTENSITY, not depression or suicide. They can appear
quite phos even APPEARING to be very open, but unliikephos they make
you feel slightly tense or formal.

If you look at how aur is mentioned for the young 'pining boys' it
gives more of a clue.

Also be sure to look at Shah's commnts on the most common misconception
on Aur re: the 'sense of duty' This is a misinterpretation of the
'sense that something was left undone' or words to that effect.

Can't find te URL offhand but it used to be indiaspace or similar, a
search should bring it up.

So yes they can present as very cheerful, and sociably adept, they can
charm the pants off you. Thye may even make themselves feel better
talking to you , but by the evening they will still be suppressing
their problems with booze. Hence a very good Rx re the other Thread
on alcoholism.
