This book is a practical introduction to homeopathic medicine for the
veterinary surgeon who would like to use this form of therapeutics in their
practice. It is comprehensively referenced and will also be of value to the
reader who wishes to pursue the subject at a deeper level.
The first part begins with the historical background, philosophy and
underlying principles of homeopathy, providing a detailed discussion of the
scientific basis of the discipline and veterinary evidence for its
effectiveness. Specific issues such as the theory of miasms, the bowel
nosodes and the homeopathic approach to vaccination are also covered.
The second part discusses each of the body systems from the

John Saxton qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1964
and began his career in a mixed practice, subsequently setting up his own

Fellow and an Examiner of the Faculty of Homeopathy, London and a past
President of the British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons. He
is also a Recognised Teacher and Examiner for the International Association

Peter Gregory qualified from the Bristol University School of Veterinary
Science in 1972 and worked in a mixed practice in the UK before spending
seven years in a mixed practice on the tropical coast of North Queensland.
He now works in a holistic veterinary referral centre in East Sussex. He is

Veterinary attention will almost certainly be necessary at times, and

homeopathy by a medical colleague in 1980 and went on to gain the VetMFHom
qualification from the Faculty of Homeopathy. He was elected to Fellowship
in 1999, and now runs a referral service treating animals with homeopathy,
acupuncture and herbal medicine.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
The author was born in Belgium where he graduated as a Doctor in
Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ghent. After a first year in
practice in the United Kingdom he moved to France where he worked for 13
years in a blooming mixed practice. Unsatisfied with conventional medicine,
he started to study homeopathy in 1991. A four-year course in Paris was
followed by a five-year course in Liege (Belgium) where he discovered
classical homeopathy. In 2001 he moved to the United Kingdom where he now
works as a homeopath in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. He has been invited
several times by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ghent (Belgium) to
present homeopathy to his conventional colleagues and contributes regularly
to the magazine edited by the CLH (homeopathy school in Belgium). He wrote
