I was thinking about this myself. You don't have to be human to suffer from cutaneous infections, parasites etc and i wonder how animals in the wild adjust to mites etc if they are otherwise in good health. Once they are pets those manifestations would be suppressed and you probably have an identifiable psoric miasm being created.
Being old or hungry is maybe what would predispose wild animals to actually getting ill from such infestations rather than just handling it.
Once we are talking about pets i suppose they could pick up on miasmatic energy of their surroundings/owners,and of course pedigree dogs are genetically engineered so to speak. However, I imagine most muts are pretty psoric as that is the miasm that is naturally acquired at that stage of animal/mammal development. As far as i am concerned this is all highly speculative. Maybe someone who knows more about the history of disease in animals could shed light. I am sure suppression is what weakens and imprints the miasms through the generations, i just don't think it is the suppression of one particular disease that was caught by an otherwise healthy person. And in each case i think the named diseases is probably just primus inter pares of diseases that a type of susceptibility would have led to.

Aren't you asking the difficult questions? What came first -
weakening of vital force due to something and then suppression of the
resultant problems or suppression leading to weakening of vital

Are animals miasmatically afflicted and if yes - what miasms are
these? Syphilitic? Gonorrheal?

Are there specific miasms for different animal species? How are these
approached and treated? Is miasm theory applicable only to humans?
What about the chronic diseases in animals? Is there a homeopathic
rationale for chronic infections in animals and degenerative diseases
in them.
I would have thought dogs are very psoric- the fleas and itches that
they have and these could be suppressed very easily... any remedy NOT
homeopathic should lead to suppression - dog itches and then bites
the itchy spot and given that in olden day dogs generally did not
brush their teeth it is highly likely that their saliva and food
particles that apply on the itch could act as an UNHOMEOPATHIC
application and lead to suppression and voila - what have you - a
Psoric Doggy-

Animals in the wild often have severe infestations of parasites, and sometimes succumb to them. So miasmatic susceptibility appears not to be limited to humans or to creatures treated with allopathic medicines. Of course sometimes variations in weather, natural disasters, and availability of food exacerbate susceptibility.... exciting causes. Rosemary

I am of your mind set, psora is quite speculative. However, what people are saying is in homeopathic treatment, it is a useful concept. So, I am trying to learn the characteristics of some miasmatically strong remedies in detail. I am using Miasmatic Prescribing by S. K. Banerjea and I have Roberts and the books in the EH. Any other good suggestions? I am looking just at one remedy at a time, Mercury right now. I am picking out rubrics which are syphilitic and separating them from rubrics which are more characteristic of only Mercury. Often, I can't see the forest for the trees, but after doing this with a number of remedies, I think I will feel more concrete about the miasmatic pictures. Does anyone have any other ideas about how to go about this? Of course, looking at patients it is necessary to classify tendencies within the miasms. These kinds of practical concepts only become real when you use them.

How are miasms grasped in experience? In a case, the patient is talking about her irritations and impatience and those characteristics in her father who she feels is like her. She is not talking about obsessions (sycosis), depression (syphilitic) or erratic behavior (Tub). They both have skin irritations that itch. No ulcers, bleeding, cell build up. In some lose way, psora of the father is being passed down. There are many miasmatic strains in the individual's history, but psora is the one that is on the surface at the moment. The application is so practical that the question, "How do you prove it?" is not appropriate. You see this scenario repeated many times and eventually you feel that there is something to the theory. I am not there, but I imagine that that happens.

I really liked Leela's example of the two kinds of white blood cells (neutrophils and another) because the evaluation gets more specific and concrete. After I fill in that kind of color, I think I will have more confidence in the picture.

When you think or it, we absolutely need some way to group and analyze remedies. Otherwise, they are just too complex. Miasm is just one of those ways. Its important to keep the doubts in your mind and at the same time build up the background for the kind of analytical perception that it necessary to work on complex cases.

If you take any of the books such as Allens the Chronic Miasms or YR
Agrawal Comparative Study of Chronic Miasms where you get a very useful
listing or categorisation of many remedies into their miasmatic
grouping you can then study the clinical pathology attached to each
group.

Briefly and hopefully not doing a dis-service to your studies

Psora = timid, introverted, depressed and sad, makes plans but cannot
resolve, poor memory needs to work hard, aggressive only when
absolutely necessary, always underestimates themselves, loners and
lonly, cannot sleep due to all those unresolved ideas, weak digestion
with poor assimilation, serous and offensive secretions, retarded
menses, obstructions in the gastro-enterology sphere, expectorations
often clear and abundant, skin eruptive (all that abundance trying to
get out), usually don't like the cold, general lack of reaction.

Sycosis = ambitious but hesitating and withdrawing, greedy but sensual
and therefore often over nourished, active memory but finds study
difficult, show offs they like an audience even in desperate times,
aggressive but quick to apologise, feels superior and confident,
boasts, sleepless from metal and physical disquiet, secretions are
purulent, menses are abundant and painful, gastroenterology sphere has
tumours and obstructions (expansive), skin suppurates with infections
and excrescences, always > after
sunset, generally despairing of their recovery.

Syphilis = cruelty and adopts the destroy or be destroyed philosophy,
attacking, becomes perverted and destructive (latter stages inwardly
attacking as seen in bone decay and ulcers), memory stuck in the past
and doesn't link with the present, becomes isolated, aggressive and
full of hatred and jealousy, cannot sleep due to torments, digestion
very disorganised, secretions are bloody and/or copious as in
perspiration, menses very irregular, gastro and skin are ulcerative and
bloody, always > heat.

Animals are inflicted with the same miasms as humans. Wild animals suffer
from veneral diseases too. Brucellosis come to mind. Sheep were the the
original carriers of gonorrhea. Wild animals self-medicate. Crows use ants held
in their beaks to rub over their bodies to kill mites. Wild horses roll in
dust and mud to control external parasites. Elephants coat themselves in mud
to control parasites. Fox roll in certain plants as well as eat them to
control parasites. Wild monkeys rub toxic fruit over their bodies to control
parasites. Wild animals eat plants for the medicinal effects. I've watched fox
and coyote raid my herb garden. They seem to have a great desire for
chamomile, rosemary, and mint. They have a great time eating my strawberries and
corn. They have dug up and eaten sweet potatoes and carrots. I've watched
wolves eat fallen apples, corn, and blueberries too. This was in Autumn so there
was no shortage of prey. Could all these "normal" animal activities be
considered suppression? Probably so.
As far a pet animals absorbing the energy of their owners, absolutely. I
see it all the time.
And as far miasms in domesticated dogs, I have a solid belief that God
created man in HIS image and man created dog in his image. Miasms and all.
There is a big issue with the Common House Finch and conjunctivitis as well
as Avian Pox. The blind, weakened individuals die out. Those who are
naturally resistant (strong vital force) go on to reproduce. Their offspring may
or may not be resistant to the conjunctivitis. Those that are will carry on.
Ask any hunter about the ebb and flow cycles in Ruffed Grouse and wild
rabbits. As the numbers of these animals increase to a peak population, disease
increases until the population is reduced back to those few strong individuals
who survive to breed again.
Do all the miasms that affect humans exist in the wild animal population?
Absolutely.

Thanks for the excellent information about miasmatic prevalence in
animals. did you or any of the vet homeopaths out there practising
anti miasmatic treatment with animals and achieved cures other wise
would not have been possible?

eczema-type rash on her face who noted that it started about the same time as her
cat developed a terrible eczema (and she lives alome, with her cat as her closest
intimate, and no, she is not a witch .. )
