Hi all,

Has anyone prescribed Mur.ac on M/E's ? Or has a clear view of this remedy from
experience ? Any help would be appreciated. I only have what little there is in
Refworks.

TIA, Barbara

Leela's site MM has a nice article on the acids compared.

Muriatic acid -

I would say that brooding sums up this remedy, people who live in the
past and who like to suffer in silence, but there is a more excitable
side to this remedy as well and one that can be compared to Bryonia
which can be very irritable. This excitable state is more likely during
fever or acute disease, but not solely. Remember that all the acids
have weakness so it depends on what other pathology might be present,
i.e. something is making them feel weak although it is possible that
they are weakened entirely by their own introspection. Used to be
called the "Spirit of Salt" because it is made from salt and sulphuric
acid. It is a powerful disinfectant so expect BURNING anywhere.
Burning, bleeding, cracking, ulcerations, all accompanied with dryness,
urinates and stools at the same time, cannot help it, possibly due to
prolapse of rectum. - there is an obvious low state of health here
that is slow and progressive. It has some strange sensations -mainly
physical - (the weakness of this acid is mainly physical) - they always
slide down to the end of the bed - as if hair stands up on end, as if
brain loose, as if mouth glued with mucous. Low fevers and great
prostration but also very restless (mis-matching of energies). The
burning heat occurs during the fevers but they are averse to
uncovering. They will probably tell you that they don't like to be a
burden, they like the idea of suffering in silence, but if you get to
talk to a friend or family member they will say the opposite (these
opposites occur all the time) - they will be described as moaners,
irritable and always going on about their sufferings. You can picture
the scenario of an elderly mother who comes to be treated and brings
her daughter to help - they will disagree about everything because they
see it all so differently. There are delusions about time with this
remedy so it might be thought of for elderly people always thinking of
the past and mixing it with the present. Usually Baptisia and Bryonia
are compared but the Natrums will come to mind with the cracking and
dryness and somewhat closed mind. The main delusion is 'ever changing
the past to the present'.

Hope useful, best wishes, Joy

Thank you Joy! I thought you might have a few further insights. It certainly
confirms what I gleaned from Scholten et al too, so I'm going to go with it. If I
ever get time to write up the case, I will, as it is an interesting one.

Many thanks again. Barbara

Thanks Ellen - excellent articles there! It confirmed my decision to prescribe this
acid as, apart from the leaning towards tactiturnity, and my px is Loquacious
(deliberate capital letter there) ;-), I note it can go either way : MIND; MOOD;
changeable, variable (K68, SRI-761, G54) (200), which I encountered this time
round as she was pretty exhausted.

Thanks again, Barbara
