It seems to me the reasoning of Scholten and Sankaran is being more
and more validated as time progresses and fits in with what I heard
Louis Klien say at least 10 years ago.
That there were musical progressions and order on homeopathy, {at
least that is what I understood}.
Andy's letter well reasoned. I feel that Scholten has delivered so
much structure and work to expect him to immediately supply more is
wishing him burn out.
People like Rosemary who see the possible picture , can intellectually
reason it and have a client willing to explore are needed. Jean

I read all of Scholten and Sankaran books, I sat at seminars and conferences
I still have a problem: for me there is too much interpretation to be done,
like determining in which stage the patient is in order to classify him/her.
While doing cases during the seminars, I almost never got it right, that is
my limitation, I am too used to symptoms and signs I can hear directly from
the patient or see for myself.
Nevertheless, when a remedy comes up in my "regular" repertorisation I very
much use their MMs and found it spot on, like the mentals of Calc Phos and
Calc Sulph......

The periods of the chart of the elements are very much like a musical
progression. And there is "order" in what comes into the materia medica, I
agree. Use of the periodic chart methods Scholten/Sankaran may take some
adjustment and may have uncertainty. But it is a long way better than an
uncured case. Kind of you to think of Scholten in the way you do here. Hope

I remember you mentioning this issue at another time.
I have been using the Sankaran method for five months or so now, when it
seems applicable, but previously was just applying bits and pieces that I
had picked up from his books.
I have found that there is a system to follow in taking a case in order to
arrive at the position to look for kingdom and miasm from Sankaran's
perspective. If following this system, it works pretty well but without the
system applied, it is less satisfactory.

This method works well in my practice, being largely of a psychological
nature - however, does also address the physical signs and symptoms that
invariably exist in tandem with psychological cases and the cases that
present with mainly or only physical symptoms.

I purchased the Vital Quest program, and although rather expensive, using it
has taught me the case taking methodology -- and this has made the whole
thing alot easier in the long run. I put in a few days of study to get the
hang of it all, which changed everything with regard to application.

Scholten's method is not as involved as Sankaran's in some ways, but does
require referring to the Chart, which is available separately to the
Repertory in book form --- once the understanding of the stages and series
themes is understood, it seems to happen a little easier. I have put this
off for many years now, but forced myself to apply it, and now it is less
daunting. Having it set out in a chart, which even has Sankaran's miasmatic
classifications represented thereon, does lend to seeing the field that will
likely yield a remedy selection.

I often check Sankaran and Scholten when working on a case, of course
particularly when a mineral case, but also with plants, as Scholten is
hoping that his books that show analysis of many of the plant remedies in
our Materia Medica, will at some time reveal that the mineral content of the
plants may be a pointer in choosing a remedy as well. This is not confirmed
as yet, but I find it interesting to note which plants have high
concentrations of a mineral when not sure if plant or mineral would be the
best prescription.

I think you may find that Sankaran's newest book 'Sensations' may have the
most recent Case taking methodology set out quite well. That would be the
one to work from if you do not have the program.

Maybe one day you will have the time to get more into it --- Don't give up
yet -- incase you miss the advantage it may offer in some of your cases that
are not able to be worked out using your usual approach.

I am grateful to have the tools offered by these innovators. Added to the
other methods from my training, it provides more options.
