Minutus

Hello,

Someone told me he FDA has but Crataegus and a few other remedies as
well as the nosodes on prescription in the USA. Is that true?

The nosodes and certain others are prescription-only (but homeopaths
can get them). Crataegus is still available as capsules (hawthorne) in
health food stores, so I'd be surprised if the remedy had become
prescription-only. It's an awfully arbitrary situation, tho--someone
the idea that even high potencies of "controlled substances" (drugs)
are illegal strikes me as really bizarre!

"over-the-counter (OTC) drugs." All OTC drugs must be for self-limited
conditions that do not require an MD's diagnosis. Because homeopathic
manufacturers recognize that most nosodes and select other remedies have no
indications for usage that are of an OTC nature, many nosodes and certain
remedies (including Cratageus!) are a prescription drug.

That said, my company has developed a good long-term working
relationship with some of the manufacturers, and if you have any difficulty
getting these remedies from a homeopathic pharmacy, contact us, and we can
get them to you for the same price.

Hi Dana,

It has always been an absolute enigma to me that we can buy Hawthorne berries by the long ton from any supplier, but an infinitesimal amount that has been succussed and adorns some sugar or alcohol/water and is called homeopathic Cratageus is too dangerous to issue without a physicians prescription? I still believe that we would have a far better society if we could hunt lawyers and government bureaucrats.

Coming back from Holland last year, security had examined my carry on case which contained some homeopathic remedies in my medical bag. "We cannot let you take on this Arsenic," (Arsenicum album) said the customs guy. (I could have avoided all that mess by letting it go through the x-ray machine, but I wanted to avoid the possibility of potency reduction by the x-rays).

I said, "It's actually safer than many other medicines in there."

He said, "Yes, in your hands, Doctor, but ..."

Finally, someone who was familiar with homeopathy in his service got the message and I made my plane. Still think we ought to be able to hunt lawyers.

Hi Tom,
Your story reminds me of the time a(nother) family was
turned away from homeopathy thanks to the ignorance of
those who have a certain amount of power in the
community.
The parents had taken their toddler to the homeopath,
who prescribed Ars. To keep things "on the safe side",
they also took him to the allopath a week later. When
asked about what the homeopath had prescribed, the
innocent family showed the doctor the tiny bottle.
"Arsenic!-he screamed in anger- This guy was
deliberately trying to poison your baby!". The
homeopath can consider himself lucky thathe didn't end
up in jail. This story was referred to me by the
allopath (who still is an active member of the crusade
against homeopathy, and praises himself for 'saving'
the toddler's life). I bet those antibiotics were
"really harmless"...

It is odd that crataegus remedy should be restricted! You can also buy
capsules of it easily. And odder still, an old article I'd read about
it recently said that the writer had not found it to be effective in
potencies (even low potencies), tho very effective in tincture. Have
others here found it effective in potency, and could anyone describe
cases where it was used successfully?

on the incident for him?

Not even a firefly flicker. He's one of those people
who consider homeopathy to be a threat AND a fictional
concept altogether (if it's fictional how could it be
threatening, and vice-versa????). He was my
pediatrician ("I'm a doctor", "I know best"
personality syndrome). Not worth my time.

Dear Friends,

Lucy asked if I can provide nosodes to people outside of the US. The
answer is "yes, but." The "but" part is that the pharmacies must then send
the medicines to us in Berkeley first...and then, we send them to you.
Because of this, there is an extra $6.00 shipping charge for the cost to
ship the medicines to us. People in the US can get their nosodes from us
and have them sent directly to them at no additional shipping cost.
Also...to clarify, we can get nosodes, but we cannot get "prescription
remedies" in tincture form (such as Cratageus).

As for the "logic" of why Cratageus "homeopathic" tincture isn't
available and the herbal tincture is available (even though they are exactly
the SAME!) is that any homeopathic product is an OTC drug, while herbal
products are considered "foods." Because OTC drugs must have an INDICATION
for use on it that is of an OTC nature (defined as a self-limited condition
that doesn't require an MD-diagnosis), there are no such indications for
Cratageus.

And finally, it is not as simple just getting lawyers to "fix" this.
Any change would require change in federal laws, and once you open that up,
you risk some politicians changing things for the worse.
