French medicines Drainage and Canalization in Homeopathy

Hello all,
I don't follow the French system but there are certainly one-sided
cases in compromised vital organs and situations where channels of
elimination are blocked. There are also one-sided cases involving advanced
organic pathology that my block cure. Sometimes drugs, chemicals and toxins
are involved in such conditions. This is not always the best time to give a
constitutional remedy because it may not act or it may cause unneeded
aggravations and even advance pathology. At this time, it is sometimes wise
to give a remedy known for its strong affinities with the location, organ
or system that is heavily affected.
I find most of the lists and symptoms given for the "drainage
remedies" quite limited but one can expand the possibility with a little
skillful repertory work and reference to the materia medica. For example,
there are more remedies that can target the lungs then Sticta and may suit
the patient better. If one uses the location, sensations, modification and
the concomitants of the targeted location, organ or system the remedy can
be individualized more carefully to the patient. These remedies are
usually work best in lower potencies like 6c, etc. Sometimes, I even use a
tincture but only in small doses! It seems that lower potencies can be
used by more broad pathological symptoms while higher potencies are best
prescribed on more narrow characteristic rubrics. This remind one of a
pyramid with the low potencies at the base, the moderate potencies in the
middle, and the higher potencies at the capstone.
Even when using low potencies by locations and organ and system
affinities I still give a single dose as it is impossible to tell how a
remedy is going to act before you give it. Sometimes, a single dose causes
a marvelous action and at other times the remedy needs to be repeat quite
often. Again, I prefer to individualize the posology and case management
procedure rather than get carried away with preconceived schedules or a one
method for all patients plan. I prefer to use the medicinal solution in
such cases because the succussions and size of the dose can be adjusted
more precisely than the dry dose. There are some cases where this can make
a great difference.
The idea that cases involving poisons, chemicals and toxins don't
respond to classical homeopathy depends on one's definition of classical
homeopathy. If they are only speaking about one-sided constitutionalists
that may be true at times. Homeopathy, however, has dealt with drugs,
poisons, toxins and food and drink adulteration right from the beginning.
Cities, living and work places during the 1800s during the industrial
revolution were very polluted and persons were exposed to many toxins.
Although the situation today is quite complex it is not without its earlier
precedents. Just read Hahnemann's Friend of Health, which he wrote when he
was a public health official in his early days! Some cases involving drugs,
immunizations, chemicals and toxins are cured by a constitutional remedy
but not always. There is no one way that suits all patients, under all
conditions and all of the time.
I always try to use a few remedies as possible not as many remedies as
I can. This is in line with the principle of the minimal dose and
intervention. In homeopathy less is often more because if one goes one step
too far it may spoil the case. Making up complex prescriptions when a
single remedy will do often misses the real target or complicates the
situation making it difficult to tell which remedies might be helping,
which remedies may be aggravating and which remedies are unsuitable for the
patient. Nevertheless, there may be circumstances were alternation or a
series of remedies is necessary. As always it is a question of balance and
individualizing the case management strategy in harmony with the time and
circumstances. .
