Dear Friends,
I think almost all homeopaths have certain fixed remedies in their heads, ones that they use more often in particular cases. Not only Pyrogenum but also Aconite, Belladona, Baptisia, Phytolacca, Nux i.e. most polychrests are used in this manner and they do work.
A doctor I know locally here gives Baptisia in case of any fever that has some digestive disorder and bodyache as incidentals. He says it aborts the condition and prevents it from developing into a septic stage. He also says that it prevents the fever from shooting up. Similiarly he uses Phytolacca to prevent a developing throat infection.
Regards,
Jagannath.
