Dear Rochelle, here are some NOTES, THOUGHTS, QUESTIONS.

1) Guillain Barre Syndrome - inflammation of the nerves often following an
URT or Gastro infection. Starts slowly with weakness in the muscles, loss of
sensation, CAN lead to paralysis (which is usually short lived), then a
gradual return to health should occur. Very interesting this because it is
related to the 'flu jabs. I think the syndrome 'arrived' during an outbreak
of these Sx following mass 'flu vaccination in the US during the '70's?? I
have had a couple of patients with this after having had the jabs.

2) Descriptions:- raised/dashed; up/down; back/forth; bending backwards;
hard (doesn't flatter, says what she means)/sympathetic; talkative/mind goes
blank; dutiful/exhausted; expectations/disappointments....

Sounds like a pillar of salt that is crumbling. She is fragile "afraid they
will be too rough and damage something." Weight bearing load on shoulders
"my stress has gone to my shoulders." Sounds typically Natrum Muriaticum:-

Ill effects of disappointment/love
Hurried, anxious, dwells on the past, very dutiful but can moan about it
which puts a question on the sympathy aspect (driven by duty rather than
sympathy), absent minded and extremely forgetful
Weakness, dryness, numbness, contraction of muscles, mouth ulcers, herpetic
eruptions, warts, catarrh, dry eyes, painful stiffness of neck, numbness and
tingling in extremities, likes the open air.

3) Where are the modalities of her cervical Sx and other muscle pains, what
do the mouth ulcers look like, where are the warts, HOW is she hurried, she
is suspicious of the hospitals WHY? - too many things going wrong - where
does this come from? You say not jealous - everyone is jealous of something
- how does she feel about the 'friend' who stole her husband? Did she
volunteer the information about not being able to speak in public? Where
does this fear come from - is it all about what others say of her? You say
there is a smell about her, can you describe this more. How hot is she, what
are her preferences and ? Not thirst, does this mean she doesn't
drink at all or ? You say she is too open for Natrum Mur - but this is her
in her healthy state not the diseased state, is she still very open?

4) Other Rx? I am sort of looking at Dulcamara and Cimicifuga but I think we
need a bit more info.

Comes up the top of my rep but she is unlike any Nat Mur I have seen so far.
However I have seen this fear of Public speaking in a Nat Mur case I cured
(3 years now!!) of acne. However in this case
She says she is outgoing. The only food thing I have down is Aversion to
spicy. Would Nat Mur be so concerned about injustice?

Sorry , just repped them but didn;t write them down!! Pain shooting in upper
arm. Feeling of rigidity in muscles. Did have a feeling of tingling in arms
when laid on but this has gone. Chiropractor thinks it might be the
beginnings of a frozen shoulder but I reckon it would have been well frozen
by now if that were the case!!!

Hope something here was useful. I just feel the whole case is to do with
injustice to everyone, everything and herself. Hence the Causticum but
suppose I get no reaction again to the higher potency???????
Thank you for your thoughts on this.

P.S Today's new one freaked me out!! Very clairvoyant and spends her time
clearing the bad energy away in disasters etc. It goes through her and out.
She talks to animals and they reply!! Presenting complaint catarrh which
makes her cough so badly she sometimes vomits. Heeeelp!!! This follows the
wacky one I gave dolphin to last week. Am really excited to see how it
works. Why do these people home in on me????

Dear Rochelle, thanks for all your notes and extra work regarding your case.

May I suggest that as you seem committed to the Causticum higher dose that
we leave it until the next follow-up with this client. By then you should
have a better idea as to whether the remedy is working or not. If not we can
all return to it for a re-think.

of what is going on here!! When the patient is in next I will be bombarding

GELSEMIUM - some extra notes

In an extreme case of Gelsemium you will have someone who is in a complete
state of stupor. The mind, emotions and body is paralysed. The mind is
sluggish and the whole body is relaxed, even eyelids hang down as in ptosis.
The limbs feel so heavy that they can't be moved. They have to be helped
into the room and just sit there. Ruddy faced and generally unresponsive.

But we have to remember that Gelsemium belongs to the same plant order as
Nux Vomica, and this immediately gives you a different picture - an earlier
stage of the diseased state.

Very irritable and want to be alone, don't really want to talk to you
because they can't get their thoughts together to speak them properly.
Cannot fix their attention, the vacant feeling takes over. Hence the fear to
speak in public? This can alternate - we have exhilaration coupled with
dullness (the up and down etc represented in this client). With the
exhilaration they want to talk a great deal or write things down all the
time (this comes from KNOWING that their mind will go blank and they will
forget). Then the dullness takes over for a while. She wrote her Sx down.

Many fears, the well known one of stagefright + fear of losing senses, fear
that something is going to happen.

Ailments from, again the well know ones of bad news, grief and anticipation.

Very timid.

Constantly on the move (hurried?) because they fear the heart will stop if
they don't keep moving.

Anxious and fearful (fears thunderstorms).

During the exhilaration stage they will be loquacious.

Also wants to be quiet and left alone ("wants a quiet life, fed up with
fighting battles")

Right sided.

Flushed, ruddy face.

Prefers the cool, even cold air - remember it flowers in the winter and this
is perhaps why it has a desire for light. I'm not sure about this but I bet
it grows really well in the mountains and snow - she prefers lakes and
mountains.

Deafness and loss of speech

Muscles of the neck feel bruised, sense of constriction of right side of
neck, myalgic pains in the neck, congestion of spine - many other Sx which
lead to paralysis eventually.

Papulous eruptions on the face, skin hot and dry (don't know about the
warts).

Gelsemium contains some Mag. Phos. and is comparable with Cimicifuga

Dear Rochelle, I would be very cautious about chopping this case up into
bits and prescribing on one tiny aspect of the case. There is a good quality
picture there (in my opinion). Reading over your original case and my notes
I can still only really see an almost classic Nat Mur. picture and one other
remedy.

Nat mur - The physical sx of mouth ulcers, herpetic eruptions about the
face, clear mucous, tingling in the limbs, long standing cough, warts,
cervical sp. and arthritic type sx in the neck area, sore dry eyes.

Mentals and emotional sx - hurried, trauma in the past, somewhat suspicious
about drugs, chemicals in foods, hypochondriacal anxiety, sympathetic
although speaks her mind, puts up with a lot but easily disappointed, strong
sense of duty, talkative.

There is only one other remedy I can get interested in here and that is
Cimicifuga - the theme with this remedy is the feeling of being trapped,
bound up and all problems go to the shoulders (where all burdens are
supported).

This rx works on the nerves and muscles - depressed and low spirits,
exhausted, oversensitive towards pain, mental sx alternate with rheumatic
sx, ill effects of anxiety, fright, disappointed love, failures. Nervous and
fidgety, very talkative, suspicious especially of taking medicines, lots of
rheumatic sx. Sleep problems. Tinnitus and cough sx need checking out. Has a
great fear of rats which would confirm it maybe?

Both worth reading up.

Thanks Joy with your thoughts on this. Causticum is obviously not doing it.
I can see what you are saying about the Nat Mur and the only thing that puts
me off is that she doesn't seem to be at all closed, in fact just the
opposite. I often see a control issue with Nat Mur. I think I will have a
read of my Bailey's on this subject. I will also look at Cimic before she
comes in next week. The only time I have prescribed this remedy was when the
patient actually said the words "I feel as if there is a black cloud over
me"!!!! It cured her menopausal arthritis. Occasionally if she is stressed
we might have to repeat it - like once a year. I must ask here about rats
next time she gets in touch!!

ESR now down to 6 from 62 which shows that there is no problem now with her
immune system. She is now worrying about since 6 is the bottom end of normal
what happens if she goes below this???

She has been taking Milk Thistle and puts this down as the reason that her
possible dodgy liver is fine now.

Ear is better since the Nat Mur. I noted that she seemed reluctant to put it
down to this. She is taking Garlic pills and thinks this has made a
difference to the catarrh.

She is still having the occasional sneezing effect but basically she has not
had her monthly infection (a cold) since I saw her last..

Instead of being pleased that she seems a bit better she is now going on
about maybe having had Glandular fever and asking me questions on this. In
fact she didn't shut up (for an hour) most of it being about how resentful
she feels She was going on about how people think she isn't telling the
truth when she moans about her complaints as she gets on with her life
anyway. "I don't like criticism of people telling me this. I feel mardy
about it. I don't feel I am a good advert for the alternative health that I
do and people are criticising me for it. I am very resentful about it."

Shoulder pain - this is still there. It is possible it is worse and I
noticed that it is in the remedy. She has been waking at 4 -4.30am with her
left fingers numb. There is an old injury to the neck. Her doctor doesn't
believe it is a frozen shoulder which is what the chiropractor thinks it is
and according to her he has made it worse by cracking her neck so she is not
going back to him. She is resentful that the doctor won't send her for free
NHS physiotherapy treatment and she has to pay out for the chiropractor and
the osteopath that I am trying to get her to seen and also me! She reckons
that she is getting to the limit of what HSA (a cheap medical insurance
scheme) will pay out

Analysis

Firstly I think that the Nat Mur has done something with the ears - which
was what her main moan was about originally- and her general health other
than the shoulder problem. All she did was moan continually talking very
quickly and hardly taking a breath and I was getting very irritated with her
which I don't usually. I have suggested she sees an osteopath but basically
she is saying all this is costing her too much and the NHS should be paying
for physio and aren't. I suggested that I wanted to see how the remedy
carries on working. Is this really the end of her constant infections? So
basically we left it that she would phone for another appointment if she
wanted one however she would like me to give her something in case the
infections came back which wasn't willing to at the moment. It was as if she
wanted an insurance policy. She was taking about me making her up a herbal
mixture for her post nasal catarrh - which was the first I heard of this.

Questions - Why does she keep harping on about Epstein -Barr this week now
she has been told it isn't Guillain.. Does she need to put a name to
everything? Why won't she let go of the fact that she doesn't have an
autoimmune problem now. On looking back in my motes I see that the numbness
in the hands on waking at night did go after the Causticum. How come it has
returned?

She used to be so fit so why is she not allowing herself to be fit now? She
is other than the shoulder which is debilitating as she can't raise her arms
very high but she can carry things.

I suspect that she will be back to me eventually, maybe after she has been
to the osteopath. I do bump into her at the gym when I find time to do the
Pilates class.

Meanwhile I have given her no prescription.

Did EFT on the set up, "Although I had this autoimmune problem, it's gone
now."
