I would like to thru out a question to the group if I may.
A very close friend of mine has been on a Homeopathic remedy for 4
years now. He's an older gentleman and had allot of chronic disease
to get rid of.
He's lost half of his mental, emotional disease but some issues keep
coming back - the same things from physical issues to mental issues.
Recently he called his Homeopath for an update to tell him all his
issues were still there after repeating his remedy and this Homeopath
told him he had core issues he had to settle himself.. He should read
the Lousie Hay book and other books and fix these core issues himself.
I hope I'm making myself clear on this.
Have any of you had to tell a patient you couldn't help them anymore
due to "core issues" you had to settle within yourself that was
causing you emotional problems?

Sure why not?
Homeopathy is not a panacea and there are conditions where counseling
or psychotherapy might be better than homeopathic remedies, This is
similar to advanced pathology where surgery might be better than
medication. Even where counseling / psychotherapy are warranted
homepathy is a good adjuvant. (Even though there are homeo gurus who
suggest homeopschotherapy!!!)

If you think about it even normally it is NOT the homeopathic medicines
that effect the cure / change. Homeo medicines help the body's (
system's) natural dynamics to heal. In settling "core issues" they
might help similarly- they make the patient strong enough to deal with
the core issues which is what genuine psycho therapy also atte
mpts to do -

Most often, the curative remedy helps people come to terms with their core issues, and make the necessary changes to solve them. Sometimes this action is quite astonishing. So my interpretation, were I this person's homeopath, would probably be that I needed to take the case again and find a remedy that acted more deeply for the client. Rosemary

I would agree with your assessment but this does not work always and
is not advisable always as well... Hahnemann says that there is a
group that can be treated using counseling etc.

I second this view about the remedy being incorrect...
Another perspective, another Homeopath, or other health care provider, even a therapist might have insight to help this man.
I feel it is irresponsible and a little cruel to give a pt a book and put the blame on him. It may be the Pt's issues, but it may be the prescriber's as well.
In the past, when I have felt that what I have to offer the pt isn't helping. I look in my heart, try to discover what I may be missing, another way of looking at the details. When this fails, and it has, I suggest a PERSON that I feel might assist the pt. Someone to coach the patient in this case might have been more fruitful. Just my 2 cents.

??? I read this as saying that if the mental problem comes simply from
bad education etc., you may not need a remedy, but simply need to talk
with the person about their issues. (But this practitioner refers the
poor fellow to Louise Hay for "friendly exhortations" on assumption he
is healthy, but simply misguided? Mmmm... Sounds like a blow-off to
me!)

Isn't Hahn. saying that "a real moral or mental malady ... would be
speedily aggravated by" ... "sensible friendly exhortations" etc.--but
here is where a remedy is in fact needed? (And
perhaps some friendly exhortations and etc. too)???

Or to put it another way--a person who is rational and balanced
(healthy) but misguided (errors of upbringing etc.) needs only talking
and education, not a remedy; but a person who is *un*balanced, with
distorted perceptions and responses, will respond inappropriately
("speedily aggravated" and all) from attempts at education and friendly
discussion.

Or is that what you were saying...

Wowo, what a stunner!
Firstly I woudl have hoped that a practitioner would be more sensitive to this patient - and giv him some careful guidance in the direction of another therapist. I do not regard telling someone to go read Louise Hay as a professional move. Sure, go read it, see wht you think - but here are some phone numbers also.
I would be more than a little concerned that the homeopath has some "core issues" which are yet to be addresssed as well - and maybe this patient was a bit too close to home for comfort.
I would re-take the case, and look for a remedy that more closley esembles what the patient is describing - or refer to another homeopath if I felt unable to progres further with this person - or else to another mental health professionoal if that is what is truly needed.
