Dear Robin,
Your experience is mostly with 6c and 12c. My post was on the LM
potency, which as you say, you have little experience. The LM potency at
the 0/1 degree is a much more powerful and deep acting potency than the 6c
or 12c. In fact, in my opinion it is a deeper acting potency than the 30c.
Nevertheless, I also use the 6c and 12c whenever I think it necessary. I
use the C and LM potency from the low to high according to the time and
circumstances. In this way, I have a good idea about their comparative
actions on a wide variety of cases and conditions.
My belief system had absolutely nothing to do with my early
experiences with the LM potency. In fact, at first I BELIEVED the LM
potency could be given daily or on alternate days in every condition, I
BELIEVED they rarely caused aggravations, I BELIEVED they could be repeated
over long periods without worry about over medication, I BELIEVED this and
that, etc. NONE of this turned out to be true in the clinic! Therefore, my
experience was exactly the opposite of what you are speaking about. What I
believed at first turned out to be a falsehood and I learned through
clinical trials to change my ways.
Also, I have witnessed persons who believed homeopathy is perfectly
safe not matter how one uses remedies cause prolonged aggravations and side
actions in some of their cases. They believed one way and the facts one the
ground showed another reality. Some of these persons remained in denial and
others refined their methods and got better results. So I do not subscribe
to your ideas that it is all in the mind of the practitioner. AND I believe
studying the Organon closely is a good idea for homeopaths as it is not
quite as outdated as you suggest!
I and my colleagues do not take the Organon as a holy book to be
followed with blind faith. It is an extremely interesting medical textbook
that offers many ideas that can be bought up to date for practice in our
times. When I reread the Organon I usually find something interesting that
I did not understanding before that helps me care for my patients better.
This is not an article of faith - it is a clinical realty that has improved
my practice. For this reason I respect (not worship) Samuel Hahnemann.
Homeopathy can be practiced in a variety of ways and on a number of
levels. No one party or school has a monopoly on practice. Nevertheless,
most of the problems caused by homeopathic remedies are due to over
medication and unsuitable potencies. Once this is understood homeopathy is
one of the safest systems of healing. I consider pointing this out prudent
and will continue to do so in private and public.
