Hello everybody, I am writing to request any advice you may have for
my nephew who is 11. He gets blisters / canker sores in his mouth very
frequently, like every 4-6 weeks, he gets a couple. These sores are
just like the ordinary mouth sores (yellow round ones on the inside of
lips, cheeks) but they are VERY big (about a sq. cm sometimes, and
very deep. They take a long time to heal. It is about a month at
times, beacuse they are so big and deep. He cannot even smile or talk,
let alone eat. He has become thin and weak for not being able to
eat.He gets irritable and fussy also due to the pain. My sister is
really worried and feels so helpless. The doctors have done all kinds
of tests and cannot tell anything. His bowels are quite regular.
can anyone help with some remedies that can help him ?? I really
appreciate the help...

Maybe you have gotten or will get some private replies These lists are
not a great place to seek medical advice for a serious chronic
problem--partly because someone in such a situation needs close,
thoroughly and probably long-term follow-up by someone with appropriate
training, and also because there can be both practical and legal issues
around giving "medical advice".

If you'd like to give me more details about him, we could put them up
to the list for discussion, and you can decide whether it seems
appropriate to give him a remedy. It sure sounds like he needs help!

Some questions:
Do you know:
- how long ago the problem began?
- was there anything unusual in the days or weeks before the problem
began?
- what sort of child was he *before* this problem began, and how has
he changed since?

Do you know if you have good homeopathic care available in your area,
and if your sister might try that? Because it's awfully hit-or-miss
trying to help him this way...

Years back my daughter used to have similar episodes (tho not so
intense or frequent at his!)--eventually we found the remedy needed to
stop them (for her; not relevant to your nephew's case), but in the
meantime she was helped a lot by arrowroot powder--I heated it into
things like (if I remember right) rice milk, chicken broth, carob
milk--any liquid that appealed to her. Are you familiar with it? It's
soothing and cooling to the irritated mucous membranes, also an easily
digested and nutritious starch, so gave her a bit of energy and
nourishment, which she sure needed! It was about the only thing she
*could* eat during some days.
