I goofed - for Rosemary

Post by doctorleelah2h »

Hi Rosemary - Within the text of BEth's message is now I'd look at
this case for management. I dont' know if I'm saying anything new,
but I'll explain with my clinical experience.
with her
having

****What are the present details of these UTI symptoms: Sensation,
modalities, concomittants in detail. Also the PRESENT mental state
with these symptoms. BElow is a well documented history of the UTI
symptoms.
1.stitching back pain which radiated to the pelvis, worse for
lying on the back
2. burning pains in the urethra on urination --
worse midstream.
3. (BELOW)
4. (BELOW)
5. The urinary pains are severe enough, especially at night, that she
often shrieks in pain with them.
6. burning around the genitals after urination, better
for cold water washing
7. considerable anxiety about her husband's missing the birth as he
works overseas. (****WHAT was the anxiety about - having to handle
this alone? or husband not helping? Or?)

contractions and has been in and out of hospital with these.

****What are the present details of these premature contractions in
terms of sensation and modalities. This would be essential as part of
the picture for the indicated remedy.
3. cycle of pain which would start in the back,
radiate to the pelvis, and end up in full blown contractions
(**** Indicating KIDNEY involvement
BACK; PAIN; General; lumbar region, lumbago; extending to; thighs
(K909, G764): agar., am-m., androc., ant-t., bell., Berb., bry., carb-
ac., carb-an., cimic., coloc., dulc., hep., kali-bi., kali-c.,
kreos., lyc., nat-m., nit-ac., nux-v., ox-ac., phyt., ruta, sang.,
sep., stann., sulph., tell., xanth.

BACK; PAIN; General; lumbar region, lumbago; extending to; pelvis, to
the (K909, G764): aloe, androc., berb., eupi., tep.

4. Passing stool relieved the back pain.
(****EXCELLENT MODALITY
BACK; PAIN; General; stool; amel. during (K898, G756): nux-v., ox-
ac., puls., verat.)

BErberis and Oxalic Acid seem to be possible acutes. BUt I haven't
seen rubrics for the other symtpoms.

but I am concerned about why the fever and general aggravation of
condition would come up so dramatically

**** I think the Sepia may have acted as an intercurrent removing the
antibiotic suppression which is why the possible feeling of
wellbeing. What were the other indications for your prescription?
I'd think the Cantharis may have been partial remedy which is what
precipitated general symptoms.

The constitutional remedy, if constitutional sympotms were still
present, would have reduced the intensity of the urinary symptoms as
well as the premature contractions. It has a general calming effect.
It may not have cured the UTI though, but would have given us time
for evaluating the characteristics in the acute state. Alternatively,
the characteristic symptoms would have become more prominent.

Ideally, if someone NEW came to me during pregnancy, with an acute
(on Chronic) going on, along with premature contractions, I would not
prescribe an acute, till I had a complete constitutional history in
hand being evaluated.
Also I would ask her to keep in touch 6 hourly with remedy response.
THis is the only way to handle a new case with an acute with
homeoapthy. Frequent follow up. It is intensive and team work with
like minded homeopaths is often the best approach or one would be
burnt out. BEing medically qualified, all the possible of horrible
senarios come to mind ....

But if this was my own patient who has been on constitutional
treatment with me before, I'd first give her a dose of
constitutional, while evaluating the acute picture. So again, Once
the constitutional has does its bit, I'd evaluate what are the
chracteristics coming up. IF they were covered by the consitutional
I'd continue with it. If they are not covered by the constitutional,
I"d give an acute.

Pregnancy is a sensitive state of high susceptibility. So single
doses of 30C are often enough.
Hope this helps,
d.r leela

this is a wonderful, comprehensive response -- thanks so much for it. I have
some thinking so do.
