Dark circles around the eyes

Dear all,

I'm seeing a female, Indian, with dark circles around the eyes - full circle round. This is something I've seen often in Indians.

Does anyone know the (medical or naturo-) explanation for this condition?

I was taught that it was a sign of liver problems.

Thanks all for your imput.

I learned from another homeopath that it could also be connected to B12 deficiency (the lady is vegetarian)

Actually, another association with dark circles under the eyes is with chronic allergies. Rosemary

What predisposes to allergies is low adrenal reserve, and often
low thyroid related to that. Dark circles can be correlated to
low adrenal reserve, adrenal exhaustion. But we're not yet at the
bottom layer homeopathically speaking. Overwhelm by the environment,
overwhelm by life, overwhelm by abuse, overwhelm by hopelessness,
old heavy lifeless energy, overwhelm by poverty,
deep quiet anger with a sense of futility. I suspect Carcinosin
states may be around the root of many dark circles/allergies/adrenal
reserve problems. And Nat Mur as closely related.

Hi Carol,
Nice info. This symptom correlating to pathology is always an
interesting thing.

In the same way I would like to know, what is the pathological
significance of numbness ! Especially if it is unilateral. As if one
exact (yes the nose upto the genitals are numb on the left half)
half is numb yet none of the other functions are affected.

Thanks in advance

Rosemary, Carol, et al.

Intersting and thank you.

All this information tallies with what I see in the case and what the patient has told me.

Her allopathic drs have indicated to her that her allergies and/or low thyroid and/or diabetes may be the cause. But her recent tests show "normal" blood sugar, liver & thyroid function. (whatever that's worth)

Her eyes, while having quite dark, wide circles from eyebrows to under-eyes, she only has slight folds(bags) under the eyes. I feel kidney-liver is involved.

A polypharmacist here opinioned that it is common to Indians because of the veggie diet hence the lack of vit B12. While you might not go in for the polypharmacy, the remedies he chooses to treat with are interesting to note in light of the information we have discussed:
