Hi everybody.

I need your help with a patient of mine who came to me with Psoriasis. The case is rather complicated somewhat and I am unsure whether I am missing a key pointer to the correct remedy definition.

I have provided relevant details below. Due to patient confidentiality I am unable to provide his name.
Patient MALE, 33 years of age.

Came to me saying he developed the condition of Psoriasis 3 years ago. The problem started with small round spots on his abdomen overnight that he was prone to itch to bring relief.

Itching made the condition worse and it developed has developed into a very large patch - the size of a football on his abdomen. White skin formation, crusts and extremely dry to touch.

The condition has also elevated to his shoulder, ears and scalp fringe.

It has developed in an area of a patch the size of a fist on his back in the location of his left kidney. Another patch has developed just above his coccyx area.

Very itchy, bleeding makes it better and brings relief.

He is very stressed with home life, i.e. the mum and wife don't get on, constant arguments, too demanding and too much to take into consideration.
Waking in the morning he feels very tired - as if suffering from liver problems.

Memory is very weak, cannot remember certain things unless he boosts his energy by self motivation.
Is caring but likes to dream of being recognised by people. Likes attention.

Is very introvert in unknown situations and is suffering from a depressive state - i.e. nothing is of interest, everything is boring, nothing to excite.

Smokes 10 cigarrettes daily from 19 years of age out of boredem and habit.

PSoriasis has spread to nails and fingers also.

Likes to eat meat as his staple diet - cooked of course. Likes fish, tuna specifically.

Does not drink much water.

Drinks many cups of tea daily.

Likes eating out a lot - junk food., I think he is thrilled by this experience.

Becomes a little obsessive about things, i.e. if he wants a certain item he will keep thinking of it and talking about it until he has it, thereafter it is a worry for him.
Hope this helps.

I thought of the remedy Carcinosin and Ars Iod for this, but I don't wish to take a chance as prescribing without good input I think.

Hi, Atiq:

Here are some possibilities to consider, based on Dr. Ramakrishnan's
experience in treating psoriasis:
Ars.
Ars-iod.
Cor-rub. - affects palms & soles
Graph.
Hydrocotyle - itching ++, thickening ++
Psorinum - Dr. R. uses w/ very good results for psoriasis - chilly
Sulphur - but pessimistic - dirty, clumsy, untidy, < bathing - in asthma,
Psor. position of comfort is lying flat on back w/ outstretched hands (SRP
in asthma)
Nat-m. - leading rx for psoriasis in India
Staphysagria
Thuja

As always, you have to find the remedy that corresponds best to the
patient's sxs. You might focus on what was happening in his life when he
developed the psoriasis. I've had very good results in one extremely severe
case of psorias using Staphysagria with Bacillinum as an intercurrent in
ascending potencies slowly over time. In this case, the psoriasis began on
the lower legs and spread upwards, and the cure has followed the reverse
course. But it takes time: it's been two years and the psoriasis is not
yet totally gone. But the patient is pretty happy -- and having a much
easier time taking the stress of his job.

Peace,
Cinnabar
