Very typical those congestions in Ferrum.
This is what Kent say's about that:

When alone and at rest, the face becomes pale and cold, but the least
excitement brings a flush to the cheeks.
The headaches are congestive in character, with mounting of blood
upwards. There is sense of fulness and distnetion, with red face.
Fulness and distension of the eyes; fulness of the neck. Palpitation
of the heart. Exophthalmic goitre. The headaches are ameliorated by
pressure. Ferrum wants to be pressed to support the veins. Throbbing
like hammers in the head. Every quick motion aggravates the headache.
Coughing aggravates the headache; pain in the head and occiput from
coughing. These pains are sometimes ameliorated by walking gently.
Going up stairs, sitting down, rising from a seat – unless it is done
very deliberately – will arouse all the pains of Ferrum. Any sudden
motion will bring on hammering and a feeling of great expansion in
the head. And then wil come more or less shooting, tearing pains.
Beating in the back of the head from rising or from coughing, because
coughing is sudden motion. Confusion of mind with hammering headache.
Rush of blood to the head. Congestive headaches from excitement; from
taking cold; from exposure; lasting three or four days or a week. The
face is flushed an perhaps cold, the head somewhat hot, but not as
hot as would be expected.

I wonder, would this have to do with his character as mentioned.

I found that there were approx. 300 rubrics in my rep which are specific to
ferrum and no other remedy.
These are from RU in Radar.
I have gone through and pulled them all out (missed a few - took alot longer
than I thought it would). Thought it may be interestin to see these, as they
are specific to Ferrum.
The list is below

FERRUM: TIME DIMENSION
A mother with iron deficiency during pregnancy gives birth to an infant
whose iron stores do not last the customary period of 3 – 6 months. The
infant, consequently, is anaemic, though presenting with a red face. He is
subject to patchy congestions and patchy distribution of heat and coldness.
The Ferrum infant suffers from birth injuries and with his tendency to
extravasation develops a Cephalhaematoma. The fontanelles take a long time
to close and he passes through difficult dentition with diarrhoea.
The Ferrum child is highly sensitive to emotions, foods, drinks and drugs.
He suffers from skin irritation and complaints after vaccination. He
develops vomiting and diarrhoea with dehydration leading to prostration and
general debility. He gets allergic bronchitis and extrinsic bronchial
asthma.
The Ferrum child is greedy, he wants food all the time, suffers from
flatulence and eructations, and vomits the ingesta soon after eating. Since
he is a sickly child, his parents continue to shower him with rich food,
fruits, etc. to which he is allergic. This further aggravates him. He
suffers from summer diarrhoea with painless, odourless and acrid stools,
which are debilitating. Gastric atony leads to constipation which may
alternate with diarrhoea. In the gastric complaints, Ferrum resembles Aeth.,
Cham., Cina and Tuberculinum.
In early stages of fevers, the face is flushed while the hands and feet are
cold. He takes a long time to recover from an attack of measles or pneumonia
due to the general debility. He has Eustachian tube catarrh withintense pain
which is not ameliorated by discharges (greenish discharge – Ferrum Phos.).
The hypersensitive Ferrum child gets aggravated from noise, touch etc. He is
irritable and cranky, sensitive to being looked at or laughed at, and gets
angry easily. Anger turns to rage and he shouts, screams and throws things
(Compare: Staph, Cina). Though he is averse to being looked at, he craves a
lot of sympathy (Puls). He also fears being alone. He has an extremely
changeable, moody nature – laughing alternates with crying (Puls.).
The changeability, excitability and debility remain with the Ferrum patient
throughout his life. They lead to confusion of mind and lack of
concentration which affect his performance in the classroom as well as on
the playground. Inspite of a stocky build, he is aggravated by vigorous
exertion. He is restless, rest troubles him; he is ameliorated by slow
motion or moderated exertion (Puls.)
Ferrum has ambitions, but lacks the will and energy to fulfill them. He is
aware of his incompentence yet demands many things thus leading to anxiety,
confusion, anger and vexation.
In Ferrum, puberty is retarded, menses are delayed or vicarious (nose-bleed)
with anaemia and puberty goiter.
During pregnancy, Ferrum suffers from hyperemesis gravidarum, varicose
veins, headaches and goiter.
In young males, masturbation and emissions aggravate the debility further.
His continuous anxiety coupled with multiple food allergies leads to chronic
diarrhoea, gastrtitis and peptic ulceration with haematemesis.
The Ferrum patient suffers from nervousness and neurasthenia. In his sexual
neurasthenia there is a prolonged stage of excitation followed by depression
which leads to impotence.
His inherited rheumatic and gouty diathesis makes him susceptible to easy
sprains and dislocations; frozen shoulder; flying, wandering pains in the
chest (Puls); gouty pains which are aggravated by vigorous exertion, but
also agg. From remaining still, he must move limb slowly – moderate exertion
ameliorates. This amelioration from moderate activity of mind and body is
found right through Ferrum.
The Ferrum woman gets Metropathia Haemorrhagica; violent and ascending hot
flushes at menopause, with extreme weakness. Varicose veins and haemorrhoids
are common. The Ferrum patient feels better by standing with head leaning
onto something.
Ferrum has early senile changes; premature graying of hair, wrinkled and
relaxed skin, arcus senilis; relaxation of muscles and ligaments leading to
sprains, dislocations a prolapses.
Senile atherosclerotic changes in the blood vessels coupled with
excitability and suppressed anger make him prone to Hypertension and
cerebro-vascular accidents. High cholesterol levels and Lipid abnormalities
contribute to his ischaemic heart troubles.
The Ferrum patient gets frustrated from his mental and physical suffering
and tries to run away from reality, his thoughts dwelling on memories of the
good old days. This nostalgia is also reflected in his dreams of meeting old
friends as well as relatives long dead. On becoming incompetent to fight in
the real life, he continues to fight in his dreams.
The old age of the Ferrum patient is very miserable. Because of his acridity
of mind he has antagonized many, and has strained relations with many. He
craves for sympathy which is scarce for him.
