I don't think the use of dry doses has any "modern" basis at all. IN
fact its old.
IT is convenient.
It is what was used before the 6th edition came out.
"Where I practice" Lm potencies are not easily available and are too
expensive to stock here in India.
OFten, we prescribe multiple "dry" doses as placebo.

HAving said all that, I use dry doses only when I need to give single
or at the most 2 doses repeated in a prescription, or when someone is
excessively sensitive to water doses (surprised that this happens as
well?). One just needs to start at the right potency. Usually 30C or
6C for sensitive people.
I use water doses, split doses or plussed doses at all other times.
I use LM's as often as required. So I"ll just set that record
straight for you.

No harm continuing to educate people with your experience though -
it is helpful inpite of the emotional content!

And I (sometimes) use dry low potency doses, repeated "as needed" (not
on a schedule), and I too have never seen a problem with it. If the
remedy is not acting well, then it doesn't get repeated. Maybe that's
why I've never had problems with it? So basically it's Fourth Edition
method, but using low potencies and shorter repetition time.

I'm slowly becoming familiar with LMs too, but if the (much!) cheaper
and simpler method is working fine, I see no reason to seek out
complication.

I've asked this before, but with apologies would like to ask again, as
I keep getting different answers... For the folks who are
always/usually using LMs (and who use them from dropper bottles), how
many drops do you put into the four oz of water? Do you begin with
only one drop, or what do you find?

available and one has a good nose for using them, long expereince
with them, one is not so afraid of starting a case with them.
So I'd say I'd start with a C potency, guage the response and move to
Lm's if a deeper action, more frequent repetition is necessary. It
all depends on the individual case, response, susceptibility, etc. I
keep an open mind and appraoch, as long as I'm being vigilant with
dose repetition and responses.
AND yet aggravations will occur with any potency till one knows a
particular case sensitivity well.

My point was that one cannot denounce a good homeopath because they
don't use 6th edition water potencies always or use dry dose
potencies often... why ever way you'd like to put it.

Hi Shannon,
David uses 2-3 drops in 4 oz of water, Or else 2-3 pills in 4 oz of
water, which is what I learnt to do. I don't think there is that much
of a problem how much/many, Even 1 drop or 1 pill will do actually.

I'd be careful about the number only with very sensitive patients -
I've got a few of those type.
