Info Request - Menopausal breast tenderness

After a phone call from a friend I started looking at my various books - but can't find much information. Any direction for resource reading - or specific remedies to read up on - would be wonderful.
Description: tenderness in both breasts - no swelling - no lumps - no elevated temperature. Described as generalized and not specific to region behind areola, or costochondral junction. Tenderness to the point of pain occasionally - mostly associated with ovulation and onset of period, but tenderness still there in between times. This condition has now lasted about 3 months. Pain is described as "that sensation of over fullness and tenderness I remember from when my 6 month old was nursing and I had to be away for a full day - but without the noticible warmth and swelling I remember from that time". She is now 51 years old and has had about a year of periods with "occasional odd timing" - sometimes going 6 weeks, and other times going 2 weeks between. No hot flashes. No skin changes. No constipation.
Just doing a quick first search, I was finding references to fibrocystic disease, mastitis, cysts and cancer, but nothing that seemed to fit what she is describing. Any ideas for vocabulary, books, articles or remedies to read up on would be most greatfully appreciated.
