I am absolutely astounded by the lynch mob mentality being displayed on this
list.
Saroush and Andy, both regular and respected members of this list, have an
understanding of the PC remedies that they felt a need to share with the
list, in an attempt to help others on this list (a couple of thousand
members, not just the handfull that comment) see the potential value of the
innovative offerings of Peter Chappell who is a homoeopath practicing
homoeopathy. The argumentation presented so far by both Saroush and Andy
have allowed me to see the potential so described and I can see from the
material presented how the PC remedies fit into the ideas of Hahnemann's
group totalities. I have ordered and received a selection of the PC remedies
to try with my clientelle who desire it.

I am open to discovering whether or not these PC remedies will deliver the
purported results based on the group disease totality a la Hahnemann (as I
understand it), as so voluminously described by both Saroush and Andy.

For Julian to call Andy's attempts to cover the topic as "intellectual
wanking" is so disheartening for me to hear, and so saddening, from the
perspective of the value in any enterprise of an intellectual liberal debate
on topics of value to a profession as healers, and so incredibly insulting
that I am hoping that this lapse in Julians integrity may be due to his poor
state of health that he shared with the list. To use such terms as a
response to another colleagues comments is asking for a reaction rather than
a response.
Lots of reactions from both sides get noone anywhere.
Responses are what is needed - this is the way for discussions to proceed
and have been for thousands of years in intellectual circles.

The profession of Homoeopathy is desparately in need of public credibility
due to a general failure to "cough up the goods", and this kind of diatribe
is unbefitting our presence in the community we practice in. I can only hope
that for the purpose I follow and exist on this planet, that I can
transcend this kind of lack of consideration to progress in the healing art
of Homoeopathy to benefit mankind.

Instead of tossing off ideas that do no support the fundamentalist mentality
thus exihibited by some on this list, it would be more appropriate to
examine with curiosity, those ideas put forward, that may increase the tools
to assist us in healing our charges on this planet - which is ultimately why
we are all following this path isn't it? If we can't evaluate new ideas we
will be lost - we will be overtaken by progressive thinkers and movers. This
is so for any profession.

It is not necessary to see the precepts laid down by the forefathers as
useless, but just as being in the original state of development - we would
be foolish to leave things at that level of development - our art is a
dynamic one, it does not stand still. The basic understanding given to us by
Hahnemann of his "theories" of disease and treament are just that, theories,
and these are not set in stone. A theory only holds when tested - and so
far, even though Hahnemann laid down his ideas reasonably clearly, it has
not culminated in successful practice by all who follow his theories -
therefore the only conclusion can be that there are things missing from his
theories that need to be found, elucidated or improved upon or added to, in
order to do justice to this mans unique perspective on disease and healing.

I am prepared as a Homoeopath to give Peter Chapell's remedies a go! I will
report the results to those who are interested.
As a longtime member of this list I desire that members take on civil
liberal discussion rules, and avoiding personal attacks when discussing ANY
topic. That is what will make this list unique and useful for all who lurk
and/or contribute.
We need to act as a community and be tolerant rather than reactionary. We
need to help each other be successful at treating our patients.

Robyn and all,

You may recall this is a phrase that's been used before by Julian in
other threads, and also similar phrases have been used by others. I'm
pretty sure his remark didn't refer specifically or only to Andy's, but
rather to large chunks of the entire thread. (Which I, BTW, have
enjoyed, despite understanding the objections.)
