Request for help...

Hello everybody, I am a new member here. I am glad to have found the
group, and I request all of you to spare some moments with any
advice you may have for me....I have two questions regarding the
health of my kids. I know these are totally different issues, but
they are contributing equally to my anxiety and stress:

1- My son who is 7, was diagnosed with adhd (prescribed Adderall)
two years ago. He has LDs and language delays as well.
We decided to wait and did not go for the medication. He has come a
long way since then, but still has many issues. I am so torn between
the decisions of either risking his health with the drugs, or
letting him struggle the way he is in many things...
I tried homeopathy for him (I have a strong faith in it ) but for
very short period of time. I stopped because I suspected I was
seeing a negative change (not sure though,) . Now I want to try Drs.
Judyth Ullman and Robert Ullman (authors of "Ritalin Free Kids").
They claim to have treated many such cases.
Will you please tell me how much you think Homeopathy can help with
ADHD symptoms ? And is there a chance of things getting worse if a
remedy is incorrectly given ??? Thats what scares me...I want to try
it once more before I decide to try the stimulants. And are you
familiar with these doctors and their work ??

2. The other question is about my daughter (turns 11 in a month).
She is a VERY bright child, very pleasant and loved by all. She
started to get gray hair at the age of 3 (has anyone heard or seen
such a case ?) I got frantic by the time she was five, as the gray
increased rapidly. She is otherwise healthy and the pediatricians
could not give me any answers. I tried herbal, chinese, ayurveda,
holistic medicines, supplements, hair oils, and yes, several
homeopaths too.
Nothing worked and I ve almost given up. The way my heart aches when
I look at her salt and pepper head, is still the same. My question
is: With her, I tried the homeopathic remedies for a LONG time. I
never knew that if a remedy does not work in a certain time, it
should not be continued. Is is possible that giving an incorrect
remedy for too long resulted in more and more gray, and if I had not
tried anything, it would not have gone this far...? Now I use henna
to hide the gray, but the orange is very visible in her jet black
hair.

PLEASE take a few moments to help with you opinions and advice,
especially for my son. I really appreciate your help...

Thanks in advance

Dear Binte,
I've heard the case of early grey hair is not uncommon,
and that homoeoepathic minerals can help, maybe with mineral supplements as
well. Not sure which minerals she may need if any, Regards, Tony

Hi,
I am also new to this group. I have a 5 year old son with autism and I am ADD myself. I so agree with you to not use the drugs. There was recently a story about Adderall in Canada. They suspended the drug because some children and adults died. I think there was an interaction with people who have structural abnormalities in their hearts. I am glad I never tried it because I have a heart defect. Anyway, I saw it on Yahoo and if I can find the article I will send it your way.
In doing research on autism and the connection to ADD and ADHD I ran across a lot on diet. There is a book I got at Whole Foods on a specific diet for people with ADD and ADHD. It was really interesting. The book talks about people reacting to certain foods, in particular preservatives and food colorings. I would definitely check that out.
Also, certain vitamin deficiencies can cause hyperactivity. There is a supplement that I get from Kirkman Labs (great place to get vitamins and supplements, used them for three years). It is DMG, a amino acid. It increases blood oxygenation and it has really helped both of us. With my son it improves concentration and he just seems more 'there' if that makes sense. When you get the supplement it comes with extra folic acid and b 12 because the only side effect is that it can make a person deficient in those two vitamins and that can cause hyperactivity. With John I have to give him higher doses of vitamins to get him enough, he doesn't absorb them as well.
Sorry this was long but I hope it might help. Best of luck to you and your children.
Melissa

Lack of pantothenic acid is associated with grey hair in older folks,
but don't know if this would apply in a chid as well...

YES in both cases.

The Ullmans have had magnificent successes with ADD and autism.
You need, in both cases, a very experienced prescriber who can see
the case clearly.

As for Florida, there are a number of homeopaths down there, but I am
not all that familiar with the state, so I am not sure where folks
are.
I would try:
Ann Jerome Croce, PhD, CCH, RSHom(NA)
320 W. Minnesota Avenue
DeLand FL 32720
(386) 736-8306 (h)
(386) 736-8685 (fax)

If she is not near you she could tell you who was.

Please explain what you mean by "details". The only details applicable are
those of the well taken case. Which the parent cannot be in a position to
just "send". I also think doing the case by email/mail would be extremely
difficult. Much better if a good homeopath was found in their area.

Paul Booyse
