I have a question to the group... I will be travelling to Europe
this week and am taking homeopathic remedies as first aid kit for
myself and my daughter. I'm thinking of NOT putting my remedies
through the X-Ray machine at the airport... do you know if remedies
are affected or not with the x-ray machines used in airports? Do
they know what homeopathic remedies are or would I get questioned
alot?
Thanks!
Suzanne

Re: travel and airport x-ray machines & homeopathic remedies
It depends which airports. In UK they usually wave a piece of material over my box of Rx and take it to a machine to test that there are no explosives!! Ask for them to be hand searched. I had problems once at Manchester airport UK and so it was a case of the Rx going through or not getting on the plane. I had problems once in Frankfurt where they tipped the lot (all the envelopes - not the contents) out into a box. Never had a problem in London, Tel Aviv, Ireland, Milan Italy in general. Basically be polite and ask for them to be hand searched. The court is out as to whether the Rx are affected but the way I look at it is I have about 100 Rx in a box that travel with me and go in and out of the country quite a few times a year and the less X rays they are exposed to the better!! I am always being told that there are more harmful rays on the plane itself than through the machines by airport officials!!

Hi, Suzanne.
This discussion should be somewhere in the Minutus archives. In short, remedies don't seem affected by airport x-rays. Also, I've never encountered any questions about them when my luggage has been searched, presumably for other reasons (who knows??). Rosemary

A note from a doc always helps getting them through, or having them
in a form which has a REAL pharmacy label on it-- rather than in
vials you have put together yourself.

Re: travel and airport x-ray machines & homeopathic remedies
We will be taking 4 flights to get to Europe (yes yuk!) I just
wondered if airports are really strict with homeopathic remedies or
if they even know what they are? I don't want to set off alarm
bells... but will be taking them with me just the same.
Thanks all for the feedback... I will worry less about having them
go through an x-ray machine if they need to go through. And I will
be polite! : )
