Carolyn, Rochelle,

Thanks for your responses.

It is interesting that Radar has over 3000 rubrics for this remedy and
EH has practically no information.

I also looked up Lou Klein's website. However, his proving for Vanil is only
in his book. so disappointing. What I think I need is to get the essence of this
remedy. The only reference to nerve problems seems to concern its effect on
people who work or use it in its raw form. That implies, to me, that its use may
be only for sx that derive from some biochemical impact.

I am working on a case of severe sciatica with a possible compressed disc
betw the s4&5. Vanil shows up with some very strong rubrics for this case,
including the pt's preference for the color yellow and some mental sx. I would
love to see more on this remedy.

Another remedy that Lou has proved with application to the spine is
Helodrilus (earthworm). Might be worth a look see!
I know it is on his site.

Hi Tanya

You will notice that most of the rubrics in Synthesis are from the authors
Peter and Edeltraud Friedrich from Germany, and there is a note when you
click on the authors name mentioning that it is contemporary info, and
includes canilla, tricitum, and calendula.

I gather that these rubrics were part of an update, and therefore the
materia medica or proving info would not be available in EH in the same
update. Probably is in more current EH versions I would guess. EH updates do
not usually include new material, just bug fixes, whilst Synthesis udates
seem to include new material.

I would be curious about the rubrics being included, if it is a combination
remedy - however, just found the following on the Archibel site:

New information in Synthesis 9.1
Other Synthesis 9.1 features New Information Synthesis 9.0

The main difference between version 9.0 and 9.1 is the streamlining and
restructuring of the symptoms. While this process was occurring, other
collaborators have continued adding information to Synthesis.

The major new remedies in Synthesis 9.1 (so not yet existing in Synthesis
9.0) are: Ancistrodon piscivorus (Michael Thompson, Ireland); Bellis
perennis spagyricus (Louise Deacon and Alan Ribot-Smith, England); Bothrops
atrox (Michael Thompson); Chlamydia trachomatis (Richard Boocock et al.,
England); Heroinum (Janet Snowdon, England); Loxosceles laeta (Michael
Bonnet, England); Lignum naufragium helvetiae (Mary English, England);
Oxyuranus scuttellatus - taipan snake (Paul Masci and Philip Kendall, USA);
Petroleum raffinatum (Nandita Shah, India); Spectrum (Gill Dransfield,
England); Taosca aqua (Anne Irwin, Ireland); Thallium (Jeremy Sherr,
England) and Threskiornis aethiopica - the holy ibis (Elisabeth Schulz,
Germany).

161 remedies contain more than 50 % extra information as compared to
Synthesis 9.0. The most important ones are: Aesculus glabra, Bothrops
lanceolatus, Calcarea hypophosphorosa, Dulcamara*, Ferrum aceticum,
Glycerinum, Guaco, Indolum, Kalium sulphuricum*, Lappa arctium, Latrodectus
mactans, Mentholum, Mercurius praecipitatus ruber, Myrtus communis,
Naphthalinum, Pilocarpinum, Plumbum aceticum, Polygonum hydropiperoides,
Quassia amara, Radium bromatum, Ruta*, Sanguinarinum nitricum, Solidago,
Spongia*, Stellaria media, Strophanthus hispidus, Triticum vulgare*, Vanilla
aromatica*, Xerophyllum asphodeloides and Zincum valerianicum.
The remedies with an "*" now also contain extended proving information from
Peter Friedrich, Germany.
"The fact is we need any and every way of finding the right remedy; the
simple simile, the simple symptomatic similimum and the farthest reach of
all - the pathologic similimum, and I maintain that we are still well within
the lines of Homoeopathy that is expansive, progressive, science fostered
and science fostering." (Dr. J. Compton Burnett)

yes, interesting info. i did check the website for friedrich's notes.
very
important in putting the radar program together. also interesting that
the remedy is actually a combination.

well, this all peaks my curiosity. i may just have to buy his book for
the proving even if it turns out to not be the correct rx for my case.

thanks and peace
