Cat bites?

One of our cats (very pregnant and even pissier than usual) attacked my
hand this morning, and I don't feel I'm using my remedies right to
deal with it.

There are about four wounds (tooth and/or claw) that are troublesome.
Initially two bled quite a lot, the others less so. There's some
swelling and soreness around them, and especially in between two that
are close. The hand is stiff and sore, can't use it very well. There
are some off-and-on sensations of stiffness or tiredness or aching at
places up my arm, which I'm assuming is just a reflex reaction to the
injury down below (have had a similar thing with similar injuries in
the past, but not sure how to rep it?).

I've had a couple of doses of hypericum 30, arnica 30, and one of ledum
30, each with some partial benefit but leaving me unconvinced. I don't
know whether I'm just being impatient, or potency is too low and/or
more doses needed (of what), or whether I'm just not using the remedy
that's needed. But at present the swelling and discomfort are
increasing rather than improving; now it aches even when I'm not trying
to use it, and I'm quite impressed at how swollen it's gotten! Very
little bruising; hand it slightly cool, but I think only because of
being elevated and not used. Cold helps a little for a moment, nothing
much. Warm seems like a bad idea (and doesn't appeal anyway), <
hanging down -- but is that "common" because of the swelling??

Looking at rubrics:
Wounds, penerating, punctured;
Wounds, inflamed;
Bending, turning aggravates affected part

Other suggestions?
Ouch :-(

If it were me, I'd use Ledum 30c and leave it at that. Repeat as

great with infection. I wouldn't expect miracles, just nice speedy
healing. It's gonna hurt; cat scratches are terrible!

The swelling certainly indicates potential infection -- needs to be watched. If you develop red streaks, give Bufo immediately.

The other most indicated remedies after cat bites seems to be Lach.

EXTREMITIES - INJURIES - Thumb - bite of a cat

Lach.k Led.k

Another consideration:
GENERALS - INFLAMMATION - wounds, of

Also, if you got partial benefit from one of the other remedies, I'd certainly try 200c and even 1M before switching remedies -- particularly Ledum. This counts as a pretty serious injury, and won't just disappear immediately.
Good luck! Rosemary

Hmmm -- I was assuming a bite -- scratch would be less serious. Rosemary

Sounds like Ledum is still indicated and needs repeating.
If it becomes badly infected, Sil. or Hep.sulph etc etc.

Chris.
Ouch indeed!

I am very interested in this discussion! A few years back, before my homeopathy days, I had a cat bite and scratch me. I ended up in the hospital for 10 days of IV antibiotics, plus surgery to remove necrotic tendons and tissue. Am I correct that I could have avoided all that with the proper homeopathic treatment?

Thanks Rosemary--

I have only 30c of ledum and hyper. I suppose I could make my best
guess and give several doses a half-hour apaty, to get closer to higher
potency effect? I've never done this... What do you think?

Thanks Ginny,
Why ledum over hyper, arn or other "pucture" rxs, in absence of either
feeling cold or amel by it? Repeat as necessary isa my usual
approach, but since I didn't see clear response (except to 1st dose of
hyper) I can't tell what to do... And it's continued to worsen thru
all the doses!

Update--worst part now is pretty huge swelling @ top of hand, to middle
of hand. Skin stretched tight, very faint blue tinge. Anyone know
what the swelling is about?? Now some heat there, and does now feel >
cold.
