Potencies that would be best to use in epidemic situations..

Hello to all,
Has anyone disussed what potencies of remedies such as anthracinum,
variolinum, vaccinosis, vaccinum, etc would work best for treating an
epidemic situation. I have read accounts in various books of past usage,
everything from 6c, 30c, 200c, lM, l0M and 50M being used successfully. It
is confusing to know what potencies would be best to use and have on hand,
hopefully all are not needed to stock.. I would love to hear others opinions
on this. Perhaps this has been discussed and I missed it? It gets
overwhelming trying to keep up with all that minutus does, but it is
wonderful! Thanks, Peggy

It depends if you are using it to prevent or treat.

To prevent, I think a 30C would suffice.

To treat, again a 30C dropped into a 250 ml bottle of water can be used
quite frequently as and when needed.

Do not use high potencies unless you can justify them.

But if you are using the Similimum (and you won't know until you have tried)
then any potency will give you a good result - how long it will hold may
vary.

To add a bit to this discussion:

Boenninghausen and Boger et al. who pioneered the use of nosodes for
treating epidemic outbreaks generally used 200c of either the nosode or the
epidemic simillimum on a regular schedule as long as the person was in
actual danger -- every week, every two weeks, not less often than every
three weeks. If there was any question about the strength of the
individual's vital force, they then used 30c. Generally both homeopathic
theory and experimental data strongly support prophylactic treatment of
people probably exposed to an epidemic but not yet showing gross symptoms.
However, it's important to note that previous research doesn't demonstrate
any predictable level of effectiveness in imitating allopathic vaccination
by giving a single or double "prophylactic" dose of anything to people not
in imminent danger of actual exposure. We homeopaths are probably not
justified in thinking about immunizing unexposed populations with a
homeopathic remedy. This topic will be treated in depth in the December
issue of Homeopathy Today.
