On the odd occasion that I have been asked whether homeopathy only really
works in psychosomatic disease, I have said that as far as I am concerned
the answer is yes. Not being a medium or a pathologist, these are the
patients I get.

Wow, that's selling the method awfully far short, unless you follow up by
explaining that all of material existence is "psychosomatic"! :-)

Or at least explain that those "psychosomatic diseases" it can effectively
treat include cholera, birth defects, heavy metal poisoning, physical
trauma, "killer flu", etc., etc. Did I miss something?

The problem here, as I see it, is that the term psychosomatic
suggests a conscious thought process that ultimately affects the
somatic realm, whether to create physical symptoms or resolve them.
If we describe homeopathy as psychosomatic, then we cannot explain
how it works in babies and animals.
