strange dream/ prize

Hello list!
Woke this morning from a strange dream. I was running around meeting
people during the American Civil War. I saw John Wilkes Booth coming
out of a window via a ladder. He said he was going to shoot President
Lincoln because Lincoln was about to sign into law a bill that made
it mandatory to teach the Organon in all schools. I tried stopping
him. Then I woke.
Whoo!! Guess I ate too much Welch Rarebit!
And to the first person to identify the reference to my gastronomic
preferences, I'll give a homeopathically related prize.

Does it have something to do with the notion that Lincoln was a
spiritualist, as was a Mr. Welch?
I'm an Australian, so american history is not one of my strong points.

Gosh,
) I was thinking along vegetarian lines of someone with a special
penchant for cayene pepper or worcestershire sauce, combined with
"historical" dreams or "shooting a gun" dreams...
Can't wait for the answer...

Is "Welch rarebit" made with Welch's grapejuice instead of the preferred
beer? I think you meant Welsh rarebit perhaps.
Umm, just thinking ot how good that would be right now, while the snow blows
outside and the temperature drops well below zero. Another night of
valiantly trying to fight off frozen pipes!

Yep it was the Welch instead of Welsh that threw me, although I certainly
had an interesting time on the net looking for a Mr. Welch!

Since the window was on the first story, the ladder was about 8 feet
long... whatever that matters....
