Magnet Question

Hi all,

I recently met someone who is taking a homeopathic remedy she has written to me privately inquiring as to if it is OK to use the magnet pads that are available for the bed? I don't think there is a problem of interfering with her remedy as these are not very powerful magnets but thanks for any feedback!

Hello Patti,
I ask my patients NOT to use those while they are receiving homoeopathic
treatment. Once you read the proving of Magnet, Magnetis Polus Arcticus,
Magnetis Polus Australis, you see what a powerful influence magnets are when
used in such a direct way.
I think they sometimes can be circumstantially "homoeopathic" to a case and
therefore pose no problem - in the same way that mineral spas assist the
healing of some intractable patients. But if the effects of the magnet are
not homoeopathic to the case, then they act palliatively at best, or, can
substantially interfere with the homoeopathic results you are trying to
obtain.
Regards,
Chris

Hello all!
In the small town where I live and have one of my practices, there is a
whole bunch of people selling and using the magnets from the multilevel marketing
company that originated in Japan. I find that well chosen remedies only
sort of work for these folks, and then only if I have them take their remedy as
an LM, daily, with a rather large number of drops to really punch through the
magnets.
The magnets, in my experience, are powerful but palliative at best, in that
they continue to need to be used for the person to get relief. One patient
has been using a large magnet for her back for 12 years. If she doesn't use
it daily, the chronic back pain returns.
But several of these people make their living selling the magnets so I don't
even try to take them off the magnets. I do show them the portions of the
Organon where Hahnemann talks about magnets.
That makes them feel good and validates homeopathy in their minds.
And since these people are usually quite interested in health, often they
will keep coming back, even if their results aren't as good as they would be
sans magnets.
To paraphrase the US "sectary" of defense recently--'sometimes you have to
go with the patients you have, rather than the patients you would like to
have'. ;-)
Cheers,
Marybeth

so that would be in accordance with Aphorism 286?

Thanks for the feed-back Marybeth!

Dear Chris,
Do you have experience with interference with magnets? Or are you theorizing?
I have been sleeping on a magnetic bed long before I started homeopathy and I have gotten results from homeopathy. Perhaps it is like coffee or mint. Some people are affected??
Blessings,
Ellen

I was taught to ask patients not to use heating pads, and since the heat
itself is unlikely to be the problem (ahhhhhh....), my guess would be that
it's the magnetic field (generated by any moving electrical current) that
could be?

Also, if the remedy works they shouldn't *need* the magnets, should they?

Sounds like a good approach, Marybeth! I have some relatives in multilevel
marketing, who are also quite "married" to their products and yeah, I
couldn't even begin to talk them out of it, wouldn't try... But I'm
curious, have you explained that the magnets seem to work against the action
of the remedies, and that if the remedies might make the magnets unnecessary
in time? Just curious!

I've had several patients whose skin conditions - eczema, psoriasis etc.
- have been made worse in the past by using magnets and I would not like
to think what magnets would do for cancer etc. either. Since the
magnet's function is to increase blood supply, haphazardly in some
cases, to various parts of the body, it has to be asked whether that is
desirable. For many conditions, it isn't. Very little testing has been
done on magnets, I think I am right in saying, and I am very concerned
at the fact that they are now so commonly used. I've often had to ask
patients to remove magnetic bracelets, magnets stuck to the body, etc.
before treatment.

Angela

In my practice I advise against the use of magnetic therapies while taking
homeopathics. Homeopathy is one of the energy medicines. It's foundation of
action is based on the electromagnetic spectrum. The use of another strong
electromagnetic influences such as magnetism can affect the orbital
electrons of surrounding bodies, thus I believe magnetic therapies could
have a detrimental effect on the remedies actions.
