Food cravings/aversions/obstacles to cure?

Dear Respected Colleagues,
As a student who's just begun the clinical phase of her studies, I am deeply interested in the role that food cravings and aversions play in a person's health and what we, as homeopaths should do in terms an attempt by the body to balance out a system that's out of balance? Do the cravings and aversions make the system more out of balance, perpetuating the patient's problem in an endless cycle?
I am aware that in the Organon Hahnemann suggested a bland diet, leaving out many foods and drinks we commonly eat today and he speaks of habits and foods as being obstacles to cure in aphorism 260 along with the footnotes listed in the 6th edition. What I'm wondering is, in the course of a daily practice, how many people make these recommendations to their patients and how successful are the patients in following them?
Also, I've been interested in the Blood Type Diet for myself now for about a year. What is your opinion on this diet?
Thanks for the clarifications.
Sincere regards,
Lisa Newlin
