At the clinic where I practice we have been for a number of years putting 25 drops of brandy in a 4 ounce LM liquid remedy bottle. There has been no problem. Myself, I believe that any alcohol in the blood disrupts one's ability to contact one's higher self for 24 hours so the less alcohol the better. But any pharmacist will tell you that amount of alcohol is nothing but food for bacteria. To inhibit bacterial growth requires quite a bit of alcohol. That alcohol can be steamed off for 10 minutes and the remedy will remain viable. Usually patients use that 4 ounce bottle in a month but some take several months and the remedy has still been active (effective). Kept in the fridge however. A homeopathic pharmacist has told me some people who want to avoid alcohol use the LMs in a liquid solution without alcohol added and it stays good for several weeks. I'd be interested to hear other's non alcohol experiences. A friend claims he has made liquids from remedies and they keep for a long time without alcohol but he is still a student and I don't know how reliable his opinion is.

I have kept remedies prepared from 1 globule dissolved in 150 mls of water
without any problem for months, but I do use reversed osmosis water, so it
is pure, clean and uncontaminated. Not sure it would be possible with plain
tap water.....

I am a professional homeopath, in practice for almost 7 yrs or so. David
Little taught me to use LMs and aqueous dilutions ages and ages ago (when
I first started practicing.) I started by using alcohol in those
bottles, but my clients didn't like it at all. So, I stopped using
alcohol completely (more than 5 years now).

Here is what I found out: If you use sterile water and brand new
bottles, you will not have a problem, I have clients who have use a
remedy bottle made like this for years, without alcohol, and it has kept
just fine, and the remedy continues to work.

But you must use sterile water. I use that reverse osmosis, ultraviolet
light sterile water from the health food stores. I keep it in those
plastic water buffaloes with the little handle, which makes it easy to
fill the bottles. When they are empty (I keep a 3 gallon one and a 2
gallon one in the office), I just pick them up and go back to the health
food store and refill them.

I always tell my client to check for clarity, if the water is clear, it
is fine to use.

Spring water, as well as tap water went bad, it got cloudy rather
quickly. You cannot fill a remedy bottle with non sterile water, it
seems to go bad in a matter of days, perhaps the remedy stimulates
bacterial growth.

In 5 or more years, I have rarely had a remedy go bad, and I am in full
time practice. I buy the bottles by the case, new bottles with cone
lined lids, or one ounce bottles with eyedropper tops. Never had a
problem, unless someone puts the eyedropper in their mouth or otherwise
contaminates it.
