No, it has to do with, primarily...........
1. keywords hidden/coded - metatags - on main page - search engines place
a greater priority on this page - words and phrases
FIRST page most important
2. number of links to you - other pages with links to yours (but can't use
gimmick sites to get links to you - like Zeus, etc) (takes a lot of time)
3. site has to be spiderable
4. use of keywords in the text of your main and other pages
5. and some search engines allow you to pay to get better placement

Hits don't matter

I do my own website and have since the beginning - most of my pages get
high ranking as I have good metatags and have been positioned on the net
since the beginning of time and have TONS of links set up from other pages
to mine. Very time consuming to begin with but well worth it.

I had read that google stoppoed using metatags recognition?

I did it with my main page

and came up with 692 links back to me!

I just did http://www.quackwatch.org (MAIN PAGE)
and came up with 13,400 links back to them
The particular page on homeopathy that comes up has 115 links back to them

I just did
www.homeopathyhome.com/
which is number 1 when you do a google search on homeopathy
and it has only 2,200 links to it

I just did
www.abchomeopathy.com/
which is number 2
and it has 2,060 links back to it

I just did

has 486 links back to it

Part of what is taken into account are links from other pages to yours and
also how your pages are coded and if you have words on your main page that
match the metatag words (not just lists of hidden words, but paragraphs)
and other things I shared before
