How do you Prescribe Miasmatic Remedy? Do you fallow Miasmatic
Repertery. I have see such Repertory being used by some Physicisns.

I have a case who gets Nose block, sneezings, in every winter
and suffer till winter ends. How to prescribe in such situations.
Since she has this problem for 4-5 yrs,and being treated by 2
Homoeopaths before coming to me.Can I give Miasmatic remedy? If , can
you suggest anything.

This isn't enough information to say anything about (so far as I know). Are
you trained as a classical homeopath, or a different approach?

I'm not familiar with a Miasmatic Repertory, tho would be interested to hear
what it is. As to whether you can give a "miasmatic remedy", that would
depend on the case. Usually the best place to start is with whatever remedy
is indicated on the basis of the entire case, and that remedy might or might
not be a "miasmatic" one.

All these are set out differently, and approached differently, so are
useful. I was forced to use them in my studies, and am personally
appreciative now, as using more than one source for your info is important.

There are so many other books on Miasms, and have read them over the years,
but what you find useful is what you will use to refer to for your decision
making, and the others will give a grounding just from reading them - so the
only way to find which one suits is to read them all or as many of them as
you can.

The more modern info in Sankaran and other authors is just as important IMO,
but I guess only really useful after grasping the older views then, it is
easier to allow for variations and additions. We have to acknowledge that
there will be miasms affecting us now, that were not present 200 years ago,
and that there were miasms 200 years ago that were not recognized.

I wonder how you can rely on such charts?.I mean the charts such as in the
link that you mentioned.!!!!!!!!!
There are many strange things in this one (chart),for example ACON which
everybody knows has been proved by Hahnemann himself and on the other hand
Hahnemann has discovered Miasm theory and described signs&symptoms of it but
did not put Acon in antipsoric remedies group,but in your chart ( I mean the
chart in Homeoint.org) Hartlaub&Trinks,Allen and Patel have put as an
antipsoric remedy!!!!!!!!.

This chart, (assuming it is accurately compiled) is merely reporting how homeopaths classified rx into miasms in their books and writings. Thus whether these reported homeopaths agreed with Hahnemann's seminal definition or not does not call the validity of the chart into question--does it? Was there homeopathy after Hahnemann? Yes, Hahnemann was originator of the system of homeopathy itself and of the miasm concept--maybe he knew that acon really was not antipsoric. But here is a strange thing (speaking of strange things)--Sulphur is the King of the Antipsorics, and Aconite
is its principle acute analogue. Is it likely then that Acon is not antipsoric? (Read on).

But beyond this question, IMO the field of miasmatic classification is one which is undergoing change. Sankaran is the innovator. He puts Aconite in his "Acute" miasm for obvious reasons (See the rubric "sudden manifestations", etc and what we really know aconite in application--the sharp edge of any rapidly onsetting condition, the fear associated with it, and sometimes that even becomes fixed in a chronic state). So, Sankaran agrees with both Hahnemann--that Acon is not antipsoric--that it may be the acute analogue of Sulphur the great antipsoric, but may actually not be
antipsoric.

So we see that the definitions in the classification system of miasms are not as they should be--perhaps until we see that Sankaran has improved their resolution. Authors in the past may have called an rx antipsoric because of their definition of it. IMO you have a good point. Not that there is anything wrong with the chart presented, but that the DEFINITIONS of miasms need resolution so that we can talk about them comprehensibly to each other. This will be fruitful also in providing another "as if" leg of a stool to use in prescribing, esp. in chronic cases.

Acon and Sulphur are closely related by acute-chronic relation. This could be how they were both placed in Psora. Homeopaths who were not slouches (Allen, Patel, Hartlaub-Trinks) said Acon was psoric. But I surmise that it (could be) because of our poor definitions which are undergoing revision.

I know you realise I was only the messenger! However, seeing you asked me, I
will provide the following for your perusal.
Andy has already replied however, it may be interesting to read some
snippets from various authors, on the use of the 'apsorics'.
It became apparent to me as I was reading these, that the use of remedies
such as Aconite is so closely associated with what was defined as 'psoric'
states, and so useful for the treatment of psoric states, that it seems
perfectly reasonable to see how it could be included eventually by
experience or even confusion in this category.

It seems that the apsoric rems such as Aconite are thought to be closely
linked to Psoric states, rather than Syc. or Syphill. and I guess, this link
could lead the categorization to bring the apsorics into the psoric
category. And as Andy mentioned, Sankaran has added the Acute category for
such remedies

Rubrics such as Anxiety and all the subrubrics are classified as Psoric by
Hahnemann, Allen and PN Banerjee (chronic Diseases, its Causes and Cures),
and we all know that Aconite is a commonly used remedy for this condition
along with antipsorics such as Arg nit, Ars. alb, so it is easy to see why
Aconite might be included in this list.

Your observation is relevant to any investigation of our literature for
clarification and correction when needed, but I think it is important to be
careful not to 'jump the gun' and not trust something until you have done a
full investigation.

Archive - Question 1

Controling the acute flare ups of an underlying chronic miasm such as Psora
is not considered as suppression by Hahnemann. Hahnemann, himself, presribed
for such situations. In acute flare ups he mostly presribed non-antipsoric
(apsoric) remedies which he called "antiphlogistics". In our language,
"antiphlogisitic" means "anti-inflammatory". Famous antiphlogistics were
Aconitum, Belladonna, Bryonia, Rhus tox, .... . As you know, these remedies
were not considered as antipsorics by Hahnemann. In case of Mme Leloir
treated by Hahnemann in 1836 in Paris, we can see this fact (from Paris
Casebooks-In Search of the Later Hahnemann by Rima Handley). After
presribing Lycopodium 30c (an antipsoric) in April 6th, there is an acute
condition (actually a flare-up of Psora) in 10th of April and this time
Rhus-t is prescribed (an only antiphlogistic remedy). Then the acute
condition is controlled and Hepar sulphuris (another antipsoric) is
prescribed for the rest of the antimiasmatic treatment. There are more
examples of this kind.

In Organon, suppression of a single part of the body of disease by one-sided
prescriptions (not based on the totality of symptoms) is prohibitied; and
not prescribing for controling an acute flare up. As you know, for
prescriptions for acute flare ups the prescription is also based on the
totality of symptoms but only the present symptoms are taken in to
consideration.

It is worth noting that after controlling the flare up, the antipsoric
treatment should be continued. Because controlling the flare up is not a
cure (it is actually a non suppressive palliation)

Dear Robyn,
As I said in my other mail, first of all it is better to say our means of Miasm.My mean of "miasm" is Hahnemann's one and it means infectious disease.
Also Acon is a major remedy for anxiety but we cannot put it in Hahnemann antipsoric group only because of anxiety.
