sensations and modalities by lack of proving.

David Little was recently quoting Kent where he stated
that the pqrs ( if the sx qualifies for one) is more
than the top ranking generals of a case.

But, your carefulness in keeping it alone in order not
to affect your judgement is good.

Adding just before I close. The standalone symptoms-
the matching, tempting ones are to be found in
repertories like Kent's and Knerr's only. To prevent
us from failure, always refer to the
Boger/Boenninghaussen repertory to see whether every
modality and sensation is not missed. And needless, to
say, the final court of appeal , the MM will always be
there to guide us home.

Sorry to be so ignorant, but where do you find the stand alone sx in Kent or Kenrr?

Dear Ellen,
Knerr is full of them. I think my word standalone sx
needs some explanation. It is a symptom expressed as
such. For this the Knerr and Kent patterns provide
enough. Not in Boenninghaussen and Boger where sx are
split into parts and such peculiar sx are to be
treated as concomittants and have to be hunted down in
the materia medica.

Sorry to be so dense. I still don't understand what you mean. Could you give an example of a stand alone sx from say Kent? Could you possibly mean that a standalone sx has only one remedy under a sx? I understand what you mean about sx's being split up in Boenninghaussen.

In Synthesis, Rectum, constipation, there is a
rubric,passes stool easier when standing- CAUST

This is a complete symptom expressed as such in the
repertory. This I chose to call as the standalone sx.
Not necessarily it may contain only one. For example
cough,deep, sensation as though he could not cough
deep enough to start mucus, sensation as though he
could:
bell,3 caust,dros, lach, med,2mez,rumex

Kent is an amalgamation of such eymptoms and the
regular split ups is the kentian cascade of
sensations-time-modalities-extending
to-locations-sensation (the pnemonic being 'stmels'-
thanks Julian for lucidly explaining in a previous
post)

Knerr's is full of them : that is the majority is such
symptoms. That is why prescribers who do exclusively
on Peculiar, Strange and Rare sx use Knerr exclusively
since it offers enormous scope there. Dr Krishnamurthy
of Chennai, is one of the exponents of this and quite
naturally praised this repertory highly as
'monumantal'.

Yes very clear. Thank you. I had not even established a category for standalone symptom conclomerates. Also, I see the value of Kerr which I have never looked though carefully. I learn so much on this list and I am very grateful.
