Dear All, here is our first online case sent by Beverly Shamon Turner. I
hope you all find it interesting and can contribute to it. As this was quite
an urgent case for Beverly I am posting it now instead the beginning of
November, but contributions can run until the next case which should be
November 14th.
Please post your replies to the group so that we can all share them and I
can collate them for the archive.
Thanks to Beverly for the case and to all who contribute. Best wishes, Joy
Lucas.
CASE BST/Nov. 01
The case is once of 1st time bronchial/pneumonia with extreme coughing
paroxyms and sore throat. which has now cleared to leave an ongoing problem.
Adult patient usually not ill but due to heavy work committments was run
down.
Patient has been ill for 5 months.
Now there is slight asthma made worse with windy weather, damp and change in
temperature to cold i.e. early evening/air conditioning. Sensation then as
if a cold sheet lay on chest. At these times sternum feels 'hard,
inflexible, like a lump of concrete'. There is pain at 1st/2nd intercostal
spaces near sternum slight but worsening with weather/temperature changes.
Wakes sneezing most days now and some sneezing at weather changes. Feels
'highly sensitised'. Violent hayfever sometimes for a few hours and sneezes
and has feeling of roof of mouth and inside nose swelling when near dust or
others who may have perfumes even though these are not consciously
smelt.Sometimes feeling of 'cold air in nose'.
Breath catches on in breath in situations of slight temperature change and
when talking for a period of time. Then coughing starts which 'now feels
like it comes from 1st/2nd rib near sternum.' Wakes at night coughing
sometimes usually 2-3am [was every night for some time and as soon as lay
down.] Constant mucous in mouth and nose has gone but mucous forming when
sneezing and is there somewhat after eating. Mucous was in green/yellow
small balls and then thick clear and now is usually clear but goes to
thickish yellow when the only remedy that seems to settle the sneezing
coughing/swelling feeling, is given. Sabadilla 30 [it doesn't match all the
symptoms but seems to take the swelling and sneezing down.]
Patient is on low allergy food plan. Went on all raw diet with additional
juices for 1 month to settle worst symptoms.
Now left also with aching pain with some bubbling sensation ileocecal region
and constant passing of flatulence. Stools only form normally when on all
raw diet. Has many years of stools not forming consistently.
Phos, puls, sil, sulph and a couple of others have been used and although
they may have helped at the time have not completed the case.
A couple of added points seemingly unrelated to the main symptoms but
possibly of use in repping. - Lymphatic enlargement which is periodic over
years in left axilla; very slight occasional feeling of blockage/bubbling
sensation inside left elbow. Feeling of blockage long term off and on behind
left knee. Spider veins all around legs above knees. 2 small 'plantar wart'
type of excrescences on left palm.
Emotionally - probably vulnerable. Tendency to give people benefit of doubt
too much and has put up with abuse in the past through lack of self-esteem.
Has now disallowed themselves to be embroiled in these states which has
necessitated a cutting off of relationship with some family who still try to
manipulate person back into fold of control. History of childhood
abuse/criticism. Too much responsibility over long period. Very
conscientious, goal-setter. Likes a challenge. More work than play. High
achiever but always struggling financially etc. History of no real personal
support system which has now improved and is well-liked in working
environment. They are the support system for others. Many years of abuse
from ex-partner which legal channels have failed to curb. Turns emotional
energy into action. Many years of burning the mid-night oil working til 2am
and enjoying it. Now must have good night's sleep. Feeling of uncertainty
that no matter what they do things may never be better than scraping through
financially. Not an overt worrier. Sleeps well. Positive. Feels that basic
physical needs have previously been met and so are likely to continue to be
so but has had to cut off emotional feelings to survive situations
previously. Now allowing the validity of their feelings. In adversity finds
a practical way to turn it around. Previously overly submissive, now more
assertive. History of being attracted to things/places that are very
different to the sphere in which they live. Likes to travel. Previous sense
of'not belonging, although this is apparently lessening. Very intuitive.
Wants to be looked after although feels this makes too vulnerable. Feeling
that they really cannot look after themselves successfully although they
have been doing just that [some slight fear here]. patient says they used to
be absolutely 'terrified all the time' with feeling that there was no-one to
call in an emergency. This is not the case now.
There is small lump/swelling left eyelid [nasal end] which fans out over a
little less than third of lid [appears to be meibomian duct]. Swelling
sometimes and other times goes down although can till be seen. Very
occasionally discharge of white matter into tear duct.
Patient said something along the lines of 'wonders how long
they can go on'. Seems to be finding the years of stress and 'swimming
against the tide' overwhelming to the point where their love for a challenge
is being overcome by the daily grind of just putting one foot after the
other to go on.
been used for bronchial type symptoms and although they may have helped at
the time have not completed the case. Has also had dose carc 1m and also tub
200c for overall picture.
I would appreciate your opinions. Thank you
