- Busy clinic and number of patients who refer the Homeopath daily.
Basically a good and successful practice will be a busy clinic but the opposite direction is not correct all the time. It means that a busy clinic is not a definitive indicator of good practice. There is a lot of confounding factors which can affect this correlation. For example, the rate of charge can be caused that poor patients do not refer to better but more costly physician. Some Homeopaths visit acute cases in a public clinic therefore their clinics are busy but some good Homeopaths prefer to visit a few chronic patients every day and note to the quality of practice. Place, public relation and advertisement are some other factors which can confound the results
- The percentage of cure by the Homeopath
As per previous variable the correlation between good practice and percentage of cure is strong but the same correlation in the opposite direction is not very strong. It means that a high cure ratio is not definitely revealer of good practice. Some Homeopaths select their cases and do not accept complex cases. In the other hand some other good Homeopaths accept end stage and complex patients. Therefore their outcome decreases in comparison of the first group. Some Homeopaths work in public clinic and visit acute cases which the cure ratio is higher but some good Homeopaths work in private clinic and visit chronic cases which are harder to be cured
- The medium duration of following up the treatment by patients
Of course the greater the knowledge of the Homeopath, the longer the time that patients will follow the treatment. It means if a Homeopath prescribes a high percent of wrong remedy, the patient will not continue the treatment for a long time. But this variable also has some confounding factors that are able to change the results and decrease the correlation power e.g. the average time for treating acute cases is less than chronic ones. Or if the Homeopath would have a great diagnostic art, maybe he/she can treat patients with few prescriptions and the medium duration of following up decreases.
As you clearly see, all these variables have some correlation with good practise but they are crude variables and need some statistical and methodological adjustment.

Dr Hahnemann in the Organon 6th edition has said that in non venereal chronic diseases (like this case) we need to use several remedies following each other to cover all symptoms (171). He also has presented some guidelines for choosing the remedy in such treatment in aphorism 162-171. In summary he says after prescribing the best selected remedy we should continue it until the amelioration is continuing. When the amelioration process stopped and some old symptoms or new symptoms (Accessory symptoms) increased, we should stop the previous remedy and choose the next remedy which is simillimum to the new and aggravated symptoms.
Therefore in this case because of aggravation in some symptoms and appearance of some new ones, we should change the previous remedy and select a new one however it could cure the IUGR. An appropriate decision can be to WAIT, because all the new appeared symptoms have past history, in some cases especially if these symptoms are not very bothersome and highly discomforting, have been observed that by waiting the curative process continued spontaneously. But in this case because some severe symptoms like back pain has not changed, waiting can cause unnecessary bothering of patients.
The new symptoms are:
1. Fear (ppp, M) (Phatak repertory)
2. Biting Nails (ppp, M)
3. Dream, Amorous (ppp, G)
4. Face, discoloration, brown spot (ppp, P)
5. Female, leucorrhea, white (ppp, P)
6. Female, leucorrhea, thin (ppp, P)
7. Female, Itching (pp, P)
8. Back, Pain Lumbar, Lying on back (pp, P)
9. Extremities, tingling, lower limb (pp, P)
After Repertorization the below remedies have the highest score:
Lyc, Sulph, Nit-ac, Nat-m
Lyc will not be our choice. Among the others by referring to Materia Medica (The 7th step of Repertorization), I selected Nat-m
The patient received Nat-m LM2, 1 pill/ 5 shaking/ 2 dilution glasses/ 1 table-spoon/ 2 times a week.
