Apis for jews

Hi !
I was asked today if jewish patients can take Apis and Sepia in potencies or if they have restrictions because of their religion.
While I was working in Bosnia I never had problems with Moslems, but I have no idea about the jewish community.
Any ideas about that ?

Homeopathic remedies do not cause ANY problem for the Orthodox Jews because
of the dilution and the practical absence of any actual material from those
animals. One of the best Classical homeopaths in Israel, Joseph Reves is a
very Orthodox and religious Jew. (Apis and Sepia would be the least of your
concerns, too.... How about Lachesis and the snakes, and all the spiders,
the insects, and the various Lacs.... Judaism also has a law that saving a
life preempts religious considerations, and if it is a medicine, it becomes
almost automatically ŒKosher¹.

The position of the rabbinate i9n Israel (far from being progressive....) is
that it is OK to take because:
1. the dilution, even in low potency, is very high as compared to the real
animal
2. the remedy is given for the higher purpose of healing, nullifying other
rules (pikuah nefesh)
At least that was their position when I lived there.........

Manfred,
I have on excellent authority that homeopathic remedies from the non kosher
animals as you mention (apis, sepia) as well all the other snakes, spiders,
etc are ABSOLUTELY allowed by Jewish law.
