For instance: Liz, surely you are not saying that no one but an Anacardium
has the capacity to resist evil???

I too agree that this should continue if necessary and I think it has
carried enormous worth. Those who are not interested just press delete as
per any other postings.

My main concern is centred around being so emphatic about literary
characters that can carry no real clinical evidence (however many times one
has read about them). But all the remedy information and more theoretical
points about homeopathy should be valuable to everyone.

Back to Liz's point referred to here re Andy's post - I would like to ask
how she 'reads' the power to resist, where this comes from in the human
psyche, what does it mean (and give other examples and not just Frodo), why
would anyone want to resist something attainable (whether good or bad) and
how it relates to a healthy state or a diseased state.

We encounter this type of situation many times in clients who come to be
healed.

Best, Joy

I have sent a reply to Shannon that I hope answers this for you. Within ALL
actions within a case always I feel I have to see behind EVERY action within
the persons life I have to see the same theme carried through. Sankaran uses
the word sensation, I came up with "theme" as it conveys what I need and
have to see. I really appreciate your prescribing on Physostigma, but for me
when I look at the theme within that remedy if I would use it for Frodo it
would only be prescribing on the outer mission and purpose of a castaway on
a Quest. The whole issue that is very relevant over the Ring is HOW and WHY
and WHAT happens to each individual. This is particularly interesting for
constitutional prescribing because. If I prescribe on the disease or the
event as in the case of "Phys. -the Quest" then I miss the theme that
relates back to the constitutional. For example we always presribe on how an
event like grief always affects each individual. So hence the Lord of The
Rings is a great exercise for Homoeopaths b/c each individual is tempted by
a different thing as with Galadriel she is offered immortality, etc.

Actually no it didn't answer the question, you just listed well known sx of
anacardium, which I am very familiar with, thank you.

Applying your approach there is everything is Physostigma that reveals ALL
the case of Frodo, all the themes as you call them. Physostigma is not just
about being a castaway (although this represents the mission, without which
Frodo would not have succumbed, become ill or had reactions to the ring). It
represents ALL that led up to the point at which healing was required, the
final diseased state, which appeared to be near death - you cannot get any
more needy than that. It was the final offering of signs and symptoms of
what needed to be cured - as you say How, Why and What happens to each
individual. No one else went through what Frodo went through and likewise
for all the other characters. TOTALITY of signs and symptoms - of what needs
to be cured, anything else is not so relevant.

Your emphasis seems to be only on how each reacted to the power of the ring.
However you might describe these reactions, the fact remains that Frodo
overcame his, he survived. He didn't develop a diseased state JUST because
of his temptation with the ring, in fact this caused no diseased state at
all. It was his mission, which was bound up with the ring which caused his
diseased state to finally appear, succumbing as he did to the power of the
spider (and all whatever that is about).

But it seems to me Liz that your mind is made up, the book is written and I
am wondering what you really were asking by initiating this discussion.

Then I think you should read all the books and repertorize the case and
write it up and offer the community the other case to what I am going to
present.

I have been there, done that, bought the t shirt and taken the remedy :-)

I have given you + others who might be interested the 'case', surely you
don't think I am doing this 'blindly'. It would be a more interesting book
if you included some of the counter arguments already presented.

I agree, Liz -- it will be a more interesting book if you include some of
the disagreements we've had, and some of the alternate ways of seeing "the
case". Because personally I think it's pretty fascinating that features
some folks consider central, other folks consider irrelevant! (Just the way
it happens in "real life"! :-) )
