Dear Doctors,
The latest issue of "Homoeopathy for All", Vol 5, No 8(56), August 15 2004, records the testing of "Tonicard" a combo drug marketed by Sharada Boiron Ltd (SBL). The testing was done on 129 cases of which 56 cases could be followed up. It was done under the leadership of Dr B Chakraborty, MD, FRSH (London), Physician Cardiology, at the Cardiology Department of Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. Assisting him Were Dr Beena Thomas, HOD, R&D, SBL Pvt Ltd and Dr Reetiva Saha, BHMS.
The following were the conclusions of the test;
1. It was observed that all patients who took Tonicard as an adjunct to cardiac therapies (read other allopathic drugs), improved noticeably.
2. Patients taking Tonicard did not progress into the unstable angina and acute MI conditions, it seems that Tonicard has a role to play in preventing further deterioration or advancement of cardiac problems.
3. Reversal of ST changes to normal were observed in 30% of the cases. Blood circulation seemed to improve and anxiety seemed to be removed. Effort tolerance was improved in almost all cases.
4. No adverse effects were recorded and IT WAS COMPATIBLE TO THE ALLOPATHIC THERAPY. (emphasis mine).
5. Tonicard can be safely recommended to all patients of CAD, Angina and post MI cases.

Now this will definitely set a trend where pharmaceutical companies will start "testing" various combo drugs in allopathic hospitals and by allopathic doctors to get recognition. This is in direct contravention to the rule of Hahnemann which says, cure refers to restoring the person his normal state of health as prior to the diseased state. The combo drugs thus go very well with allopathic principles which are concerned with temporary relief and suppression of symptoms, called "disease management", and do not even talk in terms of cure. The objective of the homoeopathic pharmacies is thus to mingle with allopathic drugs to get better revenues from more recommendations. This is NOT homoeopathy.
