"Laughing brings up fluid in her lungs. It is the left lung"

Any ideas as it is quite a SRP other than "laughing excites cough" which I found in Arg M. The patient has been trying to get this Rx out of me for years as she loves silver but nothing else fits!!

Rochelle -- when you say it "brings up fluid in her lungs" are you referring to expectoration after laughing? (Not sure I picture your meaning). In any case, laughing is motion of the chest. You might use "Chest modalities motion" a la Boenninghausen as a starting point??

Hi Rochelle,
Cough, laughing - has quite a couple of remedies in it, the Argentums
being only some of them (Chin, petr, phos, sanic, stann ought to be
considered, too).

Then there are:

Repiration difficult, laughing
Chest, oppression , laughing
Chest, pain, laughing
Larynx, mucus in the air passages, laughing

etc.

I would also try to get the info from the patient
- if that is the only time the fluid is brought up
- general position (only when lying?)
- how does she feel during that condition (feeling of choking,
drowning??)

Best,

Gaby

Coughing from laughing is a straightforward enough rubric but is she
actually coughing or just expectorating. I suppose you could also use
'laughing <<

Thanks for the discussion on this . I have printed out all your comments and
will try to get to the bottom of this symptom that she has never before, in
the 4 years I have been treating her on and off, mentioned !!

Rochelle,

Maybe one of these will be helpful:

COUGH - VIOLENT - laughing
CHEST - OPPRESSION - laughing
CHEST - PAIN - laughing
CHEST - PAIN - Sides - left - laughing
CHEST - PAIN - Sides - laughing
CHEST - PAIN - sore, bruised - Sternum - laughing agg.
CHEST - PAIN - stitching - laughing, while
CHEST - PAIN - stitching - Ribs - Lower ribs - laughing
CHEST - PAIN - stitching - Sides - laughing

Granted the pain rubrics may not be on point -- unless the fluid (or
sensation of fluid) in her lungs is painful. Is it?

Peace,
Cinnabar

Thanks Cinnabar but I don't think it is painful. I will phone her in a couple of days to find out how the Rx I gave her worked and will discuss this symptom more with her.

Dear Rochelle,
I will support you on the Arg Met choice. The guiding
symptoms depicts a good enough picture. This is a
straightforward enough sx " laughing causes
acumulation of mucous and on stooping it is easily
detached with a cough".
Further modalities like morning agg, covers on and
off, open air amel will clinch the choice.
