Antidoting

I disagree with the idea that antidoting cannot happen with the
correctly selected remedy. Some years back, when I was just getting
into homeopathy, I was researching through Boericke's MM looking for
other symptoms, when I came across Borax having "itching on the backs
of fingerjoints". I had been suffering this very symptom for several
years after returning from a trip to Madagascar and Kenya. Did I
have
"fear of downward motion"? No, I did not. Bu those itchy nodes on my
fingerjoints had bugged me for years, so I got some Borax in 30c and
tried it. No response. Little footnote says "Antidotes: Wine,
vinegar, acetic acid." In those days I had a glass of wine or two
with my dinner, and vinegar is in so many things. I ignored that
part
of the MM, and nothing happened. Eventually I thought, well, let me
stop the wine and the vinegar, and lo and behold, within a week, the
itching was gone. So gently, I hardly noticed. Homeopathy was
beginning to unfold its magic to me. The cure held unless I had a
lot
of sour stuff.
One evening at my mother's house, she served a lovely meal of chicken
stewed in raspberry vinegar, marinated vegetables, a tart wine, and
lemon meringue pie (which was so good I had 2 pieces!) In addition,in
an attempt to keep her cats off the grand piano, she had small dishes
of naphtheline mothballs on it! By the end of the evening, I wasn't
feeling so well, and after a bad night, I woke up feeling like I was
hungover...AND the itching on the fingerjoints was back. This
perplexed me, because I did not want to give up these things nor did
I think homeopathy subscribes to the allergy model. So, as an
experiment I ordered Borax in 50M (what the hey...in for a dime, in
for a dollar!) I took that once, and I have not had a return of the
"Madagascar itch" since, nor did I prove the remedy. I can consume
wine and vinegar without any problem. And it has been perhaps 12
years.
So that experience and others taught me to accept the truth of
homeopathic theory and materia medica. Not all remedies have
specific
antidotes or inimical remedies listed, but if they do, pay attention!
I have also found that homeopathic action can be antidoted by some
perfumes and some aromatic oils, but not others.
Conversely, I found that the protocol I used to arm myself for a
dental visit (Calc in 200 the night before, and Arnica & Hypericum in
30 in the morning) interfered with the dental anesthetic. The dentist
had to give me 5 shots of whatever his potion was, and it still
didn't
fully deaden the nerve!
