Hi Peter,
When I talked about the "bacteria complex" by Dr. Reckeweg, I didn't talk about your current (fungal?) sinusitis, but the reason, why they want to give you antibiotics: Our nose is a formidable host for all kinds of bacteria, there are always many Streptococcus aureus and Staphylococci present, which could enter the bloodstream via your perforated septum, and cause a systemic infection. That is, what the antibiotics, as well as the R8? and oregano oil are to prevent. Pulsatilla is often indicated for sinusitis (mostly viral ones), but in our consultation, I saw no characteristic symptoms that would indicate Pulsatilla, or else I would have prescribed it. You can stop with the Nux-vomica for now, and start the Kali-bi., as the Nux will keep working anyways. If you go ahead with the Dr. Reckeweg Rx and oregano oil, please wait with the Detox-kit, as this would probably be a bit too much at once. If you opt for the antibiotics (don't forget to complement with probiotics, i.e. acidophilus, until about 10 days after finishing the antibiotics)), you can commence the first Rx of the Detox kit simultaneously. This complex remedy contains several dilutions of Nux-vomica anyways, and is designed to stimulate liver functions, and support liver detoxification. Nux vomica will have a positive influence on your sinusitis, but rather on a chronic level, not for the acute state now (incl. the septum perforation), that is why I recommend to interject our treatment with the Kali-bi for the time being.(Kali-bi and Nux-v complement each other frequently). All clear? Thank you for the toll free number, and see you on Thurs., Aug. 26 at 10:00am, if not before at the Pantry.

Hello All,

witnessed several cures by Mesmerism in Germany and was greatly impressed
by their work. He began to study the phenomena of Mesmerism and became a
practitioner of magnetic healing. Franz Albrecht was a life long friend of
Hahnemann. He wrote a biography of Hahnemann called Life and Works of
Hahnemann. In this book he stated:
"Magnetism and mesmerism, both intimately connected with the study of
medicine, were making progress. Hahnemann paid special attention to them,
and he occasionally applied both, in attacks of sickness, with successful
results."
Life and Letters of Hahnemann; T. L. Bradford, page 449.
A patient named Captain Burroughs came to see Samuel and Melanie on
December 9th, 1837, for treatment of epileptic seizures with catalepsy,
stupor and somnambulism (Paris casebooks, DF-5, p. 294). The patient was
sensitive, sexually excitable and experienced amorous dreams and nocturnal
emissions. He had suffered from convulsions for twelve years and was
experiencing daily fits. On the 13th of November, 1838 the patient had a
seizure in Hahnemann’s office while the Founder was reviewing his case
notes. Hahnemann notes in his casebook that Melanie quickly magnetized the
patient with a single pass that immediately stopped the convulsions. On
November 21st, 1838, Hahnemann included a single slow magnetic pass in his
prescription for the patient (Paris casebooks, DF-5, p. 332).
"One slow magnetic pass. He was taking his medicine four times a day
and it is finished. Tinctura Sulph. 1 globule of C18 in 20 [tablespoons*]
and 2 [tablespoons*] of brandy. 1 tablespoon in one glass of water. 4 times
[daily*] one small spoon."
In a later entry on page 414-415 of the same casebook Hahnemann notes
that a mesmer named Chapelin was going to magnetize Captain Burroughs for
nine or ten days.
Mesmer and his disciples were well aware that their patients were
entering altered states of consciousness marked by trance. They also knew
the power of suggestion during these altered states. By Hahnemann’s time,
hypnosis and Mesmerism were an integrated science and the homopaths in
Hahnemann’s circle were carrying out many experiments. Dr. Heinrich A. von
Gersdorff, who worked with Hahnemann on The Chronic Diseases, was involved
in one of the most extraordinary experiments. Doctor von Gersdorff wrote:
"The cure of a dangerous disease by idiosomnambulism and the
homopathic remedies prescribed by the patient in his magnetically
clairvoyant condition, after the careful observation made personally and
described by Heinrich August Baron Gersdorff."
Esienach; Published by Johann Fr. Barecke, 1833.
Von Gersdorff used the patient’s heightened awareness during trance to
assist in the selection of a homopathic remedy. This offers insights into
the advanced levels of Mesmerism cum hypnosis performed by the inner circle
of the first generation of homopaths. Von Gersdorff stayed in contact with
Hahnemann by letter after he left Coethen for Paris. He later accompanied
his son, also a homopathic physician, to Boston, USA, in 1849 where he
took a position at the university. He died in 1870 at the age of seventy-seven.
Dr. Melanie Hahnemann, the second wife of Samuel, also experimented
with Mesmerism cum hypnotism. She used this method to find out information
on the whereabouts of her long lost father. She used a young girl as a
surrogate whom she placed in a clairvoyant trance to find out the
information she sought!
"She had, she said, experimented with the former [mesmerism] herself
when she had magnetized or hypnotized a young girl to find out where her
father was. The subject discovered that he was in California, and this fact
had been verified."
A Homeopathic Love Story, The Story of Samuel and Melanie Hahnemann; R.
Handley, page 182.
Sometimes the conservative wing of homoeopathy acts as if Hahnemann and
the first generation only used their little white pills and were against
all other forms of healing. In truth they were experimenting with a wide
variety of healing arts. As we have seen in the above quotes they not only
used strange, rare and peculiar remedies but also strange, rare and
peculiar methods of healing! I would have loved to be present when Samuel
and Melanie centered their energy, focused their gazes, and raised their
hands to transmit the magnet current or induce trance when necessary!!!
What a moment.
Similia Minimus,
Sincerely, David

I'll do the first part:
You, and whomever you want to convince, should check out this link:
The key concepts here are that heartworm is, firstly, VERY hard to
contract, not easily vectored, and two, healthy dogs with
fully-functioning immune systems will not suffer an infestation even if
they harbor a few worms. This will lead to a positive test, but they
may not become symptomatic, and the worms will eventually die of old
age.
Which would be preferable, supporting the health of the animal while he
disposes of the worms with the help of a nosode which encourages his
own body to do the deed, or systemically assaulting his entire body
with a poison which kills the worms outright and causes great
dysfunction and handicap to his whole health picture, not just
immediately, but down the road in the form of chronic disease?
An infestation must be carefully handled, as Magda said, but it CAN be
handled, and will respond much better with much less damage to the
animal with the homeopathic approach - just like everything else,
really.

David-
Much as I would have loved to be present when Hahnemann practised I
doubt if you will ever would have seen them concentrating and passing
magnetic current.
Modern Clinical hypnosis scarcely resembles Mesmers antics. Modern
hypnosis DOES NOT involve passing of any kind of energy. Dr.Milton
Erickson, the psychiatrist who was the Master Hypnotist of America
and who spurred and inspired many psychotherapies( including Family
Therapy, Brief Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Neuro
Linguistic Programming (NLP)) did not do any laying of hands. In
fact many of his trance states were induced conversationally and
without people knowing that they are being hypnotized. Mesmer's
passing of energies is probably now more akin to the Pranic Healing,
Reiki, Chakra, Meridian Oriented Therapies. Probably stage hypnotists
would do that to impress people how magnetic they are.
Mesmer's work probably has resemblances to 1) Magnetotherapy 2)
Pranic or BioEnergy oriented therapies 3)Modern Hypnosis which
believes more in suggestion, verbal and non-verbal communication etc.
I know laying of hands works - I have practised Pranic healing,
Hypnosis and NLP at various times and have found them effective in
their own way.
So we do not know what Hahnemann would have done had he seen the kind
of improvement in modern psychotherapy.

Subject: Aph 293 [was: Re: Mesmerism 1]
Here is what Hahnemann wrote in Aph 293 (5th ed). Sounds like it would be
not particularly theatrical (maybe a bit), but certainly *quite* different
from the verbal process of hypnosis that we are more familiar with today.
Anyone have more information, or has anyone used this? Hey, it's right here
in the Organon, so presumably material we ought to be familiar with!
"I find it necessary to allude here to *animal magnetism*, as it is
termed, or rather *mesmerism* (as it should be called, out of gratitude to
Mesmer, its first founder), which diffes so much in its nature from all
other therapeutic agents. This curativge power ... which streams upon a
patient by the contact of a well-intentioned person powerfully exerting his
will, either acts homeopathically, by the production of symptoms similar to
those of the diseased state to be cured; and for this purpose a single pass
is made, without much exertion of the will, with the palms of the hands not
too slowly from the top of the head downwards over the body to the tips of
the toes, is serviceable in, for instance, uterine hemorrhages, even in the
last stage when death seems approaching; or it is useful by distributing the
vital force uniformly throughout the organism, when it is an abnormal excess
in one part and deficient in other parts, for example, in rush of blood to
the head adnd sleepless, anxious restlessness of weakly persons etc, by
means of a similar, single, but somewhat stronger pass [???What does he mean
by "stronger pass" -- more exertion of will, or quicker motion, or ???]; or
for the immediate communication and restoration of the vital force to some
one weakened part or to the whole organism--an object that cannot be
attained so certainly and with so little interference with other medicinal
treatment by any other agent besides mesmerism. If it is wished to supply a
particular part of the vital force, this is effected by concentrating a very
powerful and well-intentioned will for hte purpose, and placing the hands or
tips of the fingers on the chronically weakened parts, whither an internal
chronic dyscrasia has transferred its important local symptom, as for
example, in the case of old ulcers, amaurosis, paralysis of certain limbs,
etc. ...
Aph 294: All the above-mentioned methods of practicing mesmerism depend
upon an influx of more or less vital force into the patient, and hence are
termed positive mesmerism. An opposite mode of employingmesmerism, however,
... deserves to be termed negative mesmerism...." [more description

Subject: RE: Aph 293 [was: Re: Mesmerism 1]
In footnote 2 of #294 5th ed.
"When I here speak of the decided and certain curative power of positive
mesmerism, I most assuredly do not mean that abuse of it, where, by repeated
passes of this kind, continued for half an hour or a whole hour at a time,
and, even day after day, performed on weak, nervous patients, that
monstruous revolution of the whole human system is effected which is termed
somnambulism, wherein the human being is ravished from the world of sense
and seems to belong more to the world of spirits - a highly unnatural and
dangerous state, by means of which it has not infrequently been attempted to
cure chronic diseases."
it appears that Hahnemann is specifically distinguishing between magnetic
healing (passes) and somnambulism (trance)
I suspect as mentioned in another post that this form of magnetic healing is
no different to spiritual healing practices that abound today - and
channelling prana and maybe Reiki etc. would be included in this.
Colin Lambert from New Zealand is a well known Magnetic healer - have read
some of his books and had a session or two a long long time ago in the early
1990's
As David I think mentioned, the term 'mesmerism' is now only used to
describe the somnambulistic state (trance) of hypnosis, which as Hahnemann
describes can occur if the passing over the body with the energy from the
healers hands went on for a long period of time with extremely nervous types
etc....
There are many forms of bodywork eg craniosacral and others which lead to
the person going into a 'state' of consciousness, that would be akin to a
deep meditative state, but not a somnabulistic hypnotic state - as I see
when I help someone achieve a deep trance state. When I do craniosacral work
though the client is definitely in an altered state but it is definitely
different to the deep, somnambulistic hynotic state but not unlike the
lighter trance states that can be quite useful especially using the
Ericksonian style metaphorical methods to affect change.

Is there any magnetic or electric or wahtever current? Certanlly there should be. Kirlian Camera show the field, and the cupper bed has show effectiveness on relieving illness. But it is only an effect, not the cause. Yes, Kirlian show it and we can measure illness in some grade. That show us there is some base to "vital force" but no as occultism and gnosticism try it. It exist, and it is ruled by universal laws, as gravity (and there are not mistery in it), we should investigate and use to cure patient.

An opposite mode of employingmesmerism, however,
... deserves to be termed negative mesmerism...." [more description
follows.]

When I do craniosacral work
though the client is definitely in an altered state but it is definitely
different to the deep, somnambulistic hynotic state but not unlike the
lighter trance states that can be quite useful especially using the
Ericksonian style metaphorical methods to affect change.

hahnemannian2002;
