The prefix 'Tri-' comes from the Latin word 'Tria'
which means 'Three'.
Examples:
1. Triad:

'Triad' is a simple noun from the root 'Tria'.

It means 'A union or group of three closely related
things'. In medical terminology is 'A group of three
closely related signs or symptoms'. Like the famous
trid of Nux moschata; Chilliness, thirstlessness and
drowsiness!
2. Triceps:

'Ceps' comes from the Latin word 'Caput' which means
head.

So 'Triceps' means three-headed. It is the name of the
extensor situated along the back of the upper arm
which is a three-headed muscle.
3. Tricuspid:

'Cusp' comes from the Latin word 'Cuspis' which means
'point, prominence'.

So 'Tricuspid' means having three prominences; like
tricuspid valve in heart or tricuspid teeth.
4. Trifacial nerve:

Trifacial nerve is the other name for Trigeminal
nerve.

'Facial' coming from the Latin word 'Facies' means
'face'.

Trifacial or Trigeminal nerve is one the cranial
nerves with three branches in face region; ophthalmic,
maxillary and mandibular.
5. Triplopia:

'-opia' comes from the Greek root 'ops' which means
eye.

Triplopia is a disorder of vision in which three
images of a single object are seen.
