hi all, I'm a new member of this group, now I'm in my last year of
homoeopathy diploma course.
I have a Q, about homoeopathic aggravation..
in my understanding, homoeopathic aggravation is when the physical
symptoms become ( worse) while the patient is feeling ( better)
mentally, it is of a short period& lead toward cure.
ok, but what if the patient come with a mental problem , there is no
physicals, do we still accept mental aggravation as a good sign?
lets say the patient is suicidal++, now he is suicidal+++.. do we
still see that as homoeopathic aggravation? if so, how long do we
allow this to go on, before doing something about it ?

It would be wrong to make a decision just on one symptom. So the whole
spectrum of sx should be considered.
But with someone who is REALLY Suicidal, this symptom is going to overshadow
everything else.

Often we have a situation where the patient's symptom is still there or even
worse but they report to be 'better in themselves'. This is a curative
situation.
However, I cannot imagine a patient who has become more suicidal to be
better in themselves! So I would think that generally they are in a worse
situation.

I would even seriously consider the choice of the remedy because the vital
force will try and preserve life. So if a life threatening symptom becomes
worse then a rapid and deep review of choice of remedy, potency and
frequency of dosage is required.

Agg usually only occurs when the potency/dosage is wrong.

If any symptom is life threatening, then it needs to be handled with care.
So in severe cases when 'life' itself is threatened a lot of care and
support from friends and family are needed. The patient should be requested
to contact the homoeopath on regular basis at set intervals (even 2 hourly)
- but you MUST set boundaries else if they are dependant type they would
contact you at all sorts of hours. In suicidal cases the fact that someone
cares often calms them.

One of the reasons Hn was led to dilute his remedies was the fact that the
action of the remedy would be so strong that in cases the patient could be
pushed beyond the limit. So we need to make sure that the potency selected
is correct to avoid the agg. This is the one great advantage of LM
potencies.

At the same time a bottle of sac-lac is very useful - so when the patient
feels really down, then they take a pill! They've done something about and
it takes them out of their depressive thoughts.

I sent only a partial reply by mistake.
In Case of aggravation ask So what is the patient doing? Is he
managing it better, is he reacting to it better, is he tolerating it
better.
Mostly in mental diseases and symptoms you test for ego strength and
touch with reality. If this improves in general and the patient
despite everything is still holding up better - you are in hte right
track...
