Murphy Lotus
Profuse sweat or shortness of breath, accompany many symptoms. Edematous swelling in various parts of the body especially legs instep and feet. Snuffles in infants preventing breathing and nursing. Contusions causes dark red swelling.
Ill effects of fright, grief, anxiety, excessive sexual indulgence. Fright causes suffocative attack.
Better sitting up in bed, motion. Better from pressure over a sharp edge wrapping up. Worse from dry cold air. Worse cold drink while overheated. Worse from eating fruits, sleep during rest. Worse lying down in bed, on left side. Head low aggravates, must sit up to regain breath. Motion aggravates generally. Worse about midnight after midnight, 2 to 3 a.m., wakes with sense of stoppage of air tubes. Worse uncovering.
General trembling with anxiety. Constant state of fretfulness. Very easily frightened. Fright followed by suffocative attacks. Sees images when shutting eyes. Worse from fright or emotions.
Angina pectoris. Asthma. Chest, oppression. Choking. Coryza, dry. Coughs. Croup. Emaciation. Headaches, catarrhal. Hoarseness. Hydrocele. Ileus. Laryngismus. Snuffles. Tuberculosis. Whooping cough.
Colic with nausea and flatulence, frequent watery, slimy stools. Pinchings in abdomen with expulsion of flatus. Spasmodic tearings, shootings and pinchings in abdominal muscles. Pressive pain in abdomen with nausea.
Aching in middle of spine during repose and movement. lancinations in scapulae.
Oppression of chest with pressure in stomach, nausea and weakness. Pressure on sternum. Sudden sensation of contraction in sides of chest.
Sharp stitches in right inner ear with cramp pain in it. Itching creeping in ears and in throat.
Half open in sleep. Photophobia. Pupils at first contracted, then greatly dilated.
Hot face with icy cold feet. Pale, bluish, puffy. Turns blue with cough. Blotches on face. Red, burning spots on cheeks. Heat and perspiration of face.
Debilitating sweats after childbirth. Menses too profuse like metrorrhagia.
Thirst without relishing the drinks.
Headache as from intoxication. Motion of head causes tension and dizziness. Pressure and expansion in head. Sudden shocks in the brain. Digging pain in vertex. Scurf on head with intolerable itching.
Orgasm in whole body. Occasional omission of heart-beat. Angina pectoris where pressure proceeds from spine. Pulse generally very frequent and small, sometimes slow, full. Intermitting.
Acute nephritis. Dropsical symptoms with vomiting of bile and distress in stomach after eating. Profuse urination with a sensation of heat in the body, dry heat of skin. Urine frequent and scanty.
Hands and feet bloated and blue. Edematous swelling in legs insteps and feet. Feet icy cold. Drawing in forearms and bones of hands. Paralytic heaviness in elbow joint. Lancinations in wrists. Trembling of hands (when writing). Tension in hamstrings as if they were too short. Tearing in legs and ankles. Icy-cold feet with warmth of the body.
Spasmodic croup. Asthma. Sudden suffocation or strangling on falling to sleep or waking him at midnight with violent sweat. Child awakes suddenly, nearly suffocating, sits up, turns blue. Paroxysmal, suffocative cough, coming on about midnight with crying and dyspnea. Dry coryza. Sniffles of infants, nose dry and obstructed. Loose choking cough. Cannot expire. (Meph.) When nursing child must let go of nipple, nose blocked up, cannot breathe. Spells of coughing, before fever. Whistling breathing.
Hydrocele from injury. Swelling of scrotum.
Dryness of the mouth and throat with thirstlessness. Half open in sleep. Toothache with tearing and lancinations in all the teeth and with a sensation as if cheeks were swollen.
Pressive heaviness in nape. Deep incisive lancinations in muscles of neck. Sweat on throat and neck with children.
Dry coryza with snuffles in infants. Sensation of numbness in nose with itching on bridge. Obstruction of nose with accumulation of thick and viscid mucus in nostrils. Dry coryza of children.
Pains in loins with drawing pressure. Incisive blows in loins.
Very debilitating sweats. Profuse sweat over entire body during waking hours. Night-sweats, except on head, worse towards morning. Continued perspiration while awake, changing into dry heat as soon as one goes to sleep.
Irritable anus with hemorrhoids. Frequent watery, slimy stools.
As if head were filled with water. Skull as if stretched. As if suffocating.
Dry heat of skin during sleep. Bloated and swollen, general dropsy, profuse sweat on waking. Tingling itching of skin. Sudden painful drawing in all points over surface while sitting. Edema, anasarca.
Child starts up suddenly as if suffocating. During sleep dry heat after awakening profuse perspiration. Sleeps with arms above head. Frequent waking with a start with obstructed respiration. Incomplete sleep with mouth and eyes half open. Lascivious dreams.
Vomiting in morning, first of milk (or food), that has been taken and of mucus afterwards of bile. Pressure in stomach. Acute lancinations under the stomach, worse by pressing upon it.
Dry burning fever while asleep, copious sweating on awakening. Dreads uncovering. Sweats with cough. Debilitating night-sweats. (Salvia, Acet-ac.) Fever with excessive perspiration, especially at night. Dry, deep cough precedes the fever paroxysm. Intermittent fever. Shuddering with shivering, icy coldness of hands and feet and pricking tingling in skin.
Hoarseness with tenacious mucus in larynx. Screeching voice. Spasms of glottis. Itching tingling in throat.
Dizziness and confusion in the head, especially during movement, on rising.
Nash once relieved with ........a very bad case of asthma, having attacks of suffocation of the above kind. The patient was an old lady. The relief was accompanied by a profuse flow of urine, which carried off a large amount of dropsical effusion in her legs and abdomen. It was mentioned above that the croupy attack "passes off but is again repeated." This tendency of attacks to recur is another note of the remedy.
