The root of 'Di-' is the same as 'Bi-' and comes from
the Greek word 'Twi' which means 'Two'.
Examples:
1. Diplegia:

'Plege' in Greek means blow, stroke. You can imagine
why now it is used as a root for 'Paralysis'!

Diplegia means paralysis of corresponding parts on
both sides of the body (like two arms or two legs).
2. Didactyl:

Daktylos in Greek means 'finger'.

So 'Didactyl' means having only two digits on each
extremity.
3. Dichromatic:

'Chroma' in Greek means 'color'.

So 'Dichromatic' means having two colors.
4. Dichotomy:

The suffix '-tomy' comes from the Greek verb 'temnein'
which means 'to cut'.

Dichotomy means 'A division into two parts'.
