The albuminuria esp. after some infectious diseases is characterizing
for this remedy - the kidneys get easily inflamed as a consequence of an
acute disease.

Regarding the worms Lilienthal writes about this remedy in the rubric
WORMS in his 'Homoeopathic Therapeutics':
" Burning and tingling in the anus, with sensation as if ascarides were
crawling about; passes segments of tapeworm; burning in rectum lessened
by applying cold water; irritability and weakness of bowels; sharp
appetite and thirst; has to take something at once; strange appetite
after a square meal; foul breath; choking sensation; dry, hacking cough;
spasms and convulsions; wakeful at night; screaming as if frightened;
ataring look, clenching of fingers; twitsching in different parts of the
body."

Lippe recommends it as a prophylactic for malaria and African fever.

This remedy has some stomach symptoms
Pressure as if he has swallowed a bullet which has lodged in the
stomach pit

Slight pressure in small spot in epigastrium, better stooping, lying
down or taking a deep breath, burning in stomach and hypochondria

anorexia and thirst : after eating , sick at the stomach; acrid
rancid eructations; relief from belching; vomitting of food, of
blood; gastritis, cannot bear the least touch ( lilienthal)

(Its stomach symptoms are some what similar to Carbo v because of the
carbon content. Being an inflammable agent, the burning is
everywhere. - my own comment)

Some of its peculiar and exclusive symptoms are:

HEAD - PAIN - constant, continued - fixed, lasts for weeks, months, even
years, with rare intermission
MIND - UNCONSCIOUSNESS - restlessness, with
MIND - STUPOR - uremia, in
MIND - STUPOR - restlessness, with
MIND - HYSTERIA - move any part of body; cannot
MIND - DELUSIONS - falling - forward - is falling forward; she -
walking; when
MIND - CONFUSION of mind - urination amel.
EXTREMITIES - PARALYSIS - Upper limbs - right - Arm and left leg

Chowdhuri:
"It removes the stupefaction and deep sleep that follow uremic
poisoning.
Administered in proper time it removes the tendency to syncope and
stops the gradual progress of all the symptoms of coma.
Finally let me add that it is one of our great hemorrhagic
remedies.
It checks haemorrhage from the bowels, kidneys, bladder, lungs, uterus
and anus, specially when the ejected blood shows signs of degeneration.
typhoid fevers where there is a tendency towards haemorrhage. It aborts
the danger, removes the tympanites and relieves most of the nervous
tension and urinary complications attending the trouble.
It is not possible to portray truly the enormous difficulty to
which we, as medical men, are exposed at times.
Face to face with a case of convulsion, eclampsia or haemorrhage, the
physician feels the same, as the captain of a doomed ship, the
play-thing of the mountainous waves, about to be snapped asunder any
minute and penetrate to the bottom of the fathomless depth.
It reminds me of such a case, that I had lately the misfortune to
attend - a case that I lost and which might have been saved had I had
the inspiration to prescribe XXX.
Many such vain compunctions and unavailing remorse might be avoided if
we but think of studying our Materia Medica properly."

"Abdomen : "Distention of ab. (Carbo veg.); obliging him to rest,
meteorism; griping colic; cutting, sticking, tearing pain all through
the abdomen."
I have used XXX for pelvic peritonitis in a great many cases from
various causes, e.g. , typhoid fever; extending from a metritis,
resulting from retained secundines or gonorrhea.
I cited several cases in the Medical Century, Vol. 1, Page 70, giving
groups under these conditions.
Since then i have had many similar cases and two in which the cause was
extension from specific pelvic cellulitis.
The ranking symptom in all cases has been; enormously distented ab.
Which was very sensitive to pressure, e.g. ; extending the legs was
unbearable; also the retraction of the upper lip over the teeth; cold
sweat of the extremities; rapid, feeble pulse; thin, offensive stools;
thin, offensive acrid lochia (after miscarriage or childbirth) and
anxiety.
Let me detail my last case.
A graduate of this college asked me to go to a certain hospital in D.M.
to see his sister who was in charge of an old school physician, a woman.

I found the patient, an unmarried woman, light, fleshy, a seamstress by
trade, already prepared for the operating room.
In reply to my "What for?" the Dr. Replied :"For ruptured appendix."
Examination revealed all the symptoms mentioned above except the
offensive discharge, in place of which there was constipation and in
addition the cellular tissue of the entire pelvis was hot, much swollen
and extremely sensitive.
Heat, pain and fullness in the vagina and pelvis had preceded the
abdominal symptoms.
There had been no shock.
I disagreed in the diagnosis and objected to the operation.
The patient was turned over to me and treated as follows : five drops
of XXX 6th every two hours.
Turpentine stupes a little hotter than the temperature of body applied
to the abdomen; ten drops of spirits in a pint of hot water for enemas
and vaginal douches. The douches to be given in large amount and
retained as long as possible. The douches were given every three hours
at first but at longer intervals later.
The woman made a slow but complete recovery."
