[TOOTHACHE, Odontalgia.] Burning - lancinating pains, especially in carious teeth, spreading cheeks, eyes and temples worse at night, or when coming in contact with food, especially cold or spiced food; teeth become loosened from the spongy and easily bleeding gums.

[VERTIGO, Dizziness.] Vertigo and dullness of the head, in whatever posture it is placed; sensation as if brain revolved around itself, and also all before it, especially when lying down; vertigo, with unsteadiness and nausea; vertigo and sensation of whirling in the brain, and loss of sensibility of the skin; no feeling when being pinched; vertigo, with obscuration of sight, and sensation as if something rolls about in the head; somnolence and snoring.

[COLIC, Enteralgia, Abdominal Spasms.] Flatulent colic and pinching in abdomen, corresponding to pains in the head; severe colic, with ineffectual desire for stool; tympanitic colic, accompanied by great weakness, and aggravated by the least motion; acid dyspepsia; intensely acid vomiting.

[NEURALGIA] Jawbone feels as if disarticulated, with intensely sour taste and vomiting.

[PROSOPALGIA.] Neuralgic faceache, spreading to the eyes, forehead and ears, to tooth, changing the whole features of patient; sensation of disarticulation and fracture of jawbone; left side.

[DIARRHOEA.] - Diarrhoeic stools, black, foetid, or watery, whitish, excessively frequent and generally involuntary, with the sensation as if the whole body would pass away with the stool; heat and pressure in epigastrium; cramps in extremities; weakness and extreme prostration; acid dyspepsia; putrid emanations from the body; suppression of urine; fear of death.

[DYSPEPSIA, Weakness of Stomach.] - Food, soon after eating, turns sour; constant feeling of weight in stomach, with fullness and tension; eructations, accompanied by a sour liquid, with vomiting, at times, of portions of the ingesta; burning pain in stomach and between scapulae; thirst; constant frontal headache; water taken before retiring at night would be returned in the morning green and sour; worse at night, preventing sleep; excessive acidity of stomach, vomiting of intensely sour fluid, setting the teeth on edge; great distention of stomach and bowels with
flatulence; sour vomiting of infants, the whole child smells sour (Rheum); desire for stool, but only flatulence passes off; constipation; constant dull headache, agg. by motion; low spirits.

[HEADACHE, Cephalalgia.] - Steady headache, with sensation as if the head were full of boiling water, and when moving the head sensation as if the brain struck against the skull; sick - headache, with acidity of the stomach, eructations, and vomiting; dull frontal headache, worse by motion, with neuralgic pains in the temples.

General Analysis.-

Through the pneumogastric nerve (XXX) acts especially upon the stomach,
arresting digestion, and causing excessive acidity, resulting in emesis,
the vomited matter being so intensely sour that the teeth are set on
edge.- Burt.

Characteristic symptoms.

Mind.-
Very low-spirited ; irritable.

Head.-
Constant dull, heavy, or throbbing frontal headache, aggravated by
motion and reading.

Stomach.-
Constant eructations of a very sour fluid.
Nausea, followed by vomiting of an intensely sour fluid, setting the
teeth on edge.
Dull, heavy, aching distress in the stomach.
Great distension of stomach and bowels, with flatulence ; severe colic
and acid diarrhoea.

Stool.-
Desire for stool, but only flatulence passes off ; finally constipated
stool.
Diarrhoea, stools yellow, green, burning.
Sour stools of infants. (Calc. c., Podo., Rheum.)

Generalities.-
The whole child smells sour. (Rheum.)

Therapeutic Range.-
Especially useful in gastric disturbances and sick headache ; dyspepsia
; heartburn ; cholera infantum.

"The roots of XXXXXX have the taste and smell of liquorice but are a
dangerous poison and accidents have occurred from their being mistaken for
liquorice roots."
The poisonings that have been recorded have been due to eating the beans or
chewing the bark. Of thirty-two boys so poisoned in the mildest cases there
occured vomiting of ropy mucus, dilation of pupils, dry throat, flushed
face. In the severest cases the vomit was more copious and mixed with blood
with retching, epigastric pains, debility, stupor, cold limbs, dusky pallor,
feeble intermittent heart action and pulseless limbs.
HYPERCHLORHYDRIA accompanied by frontal headache. Acidity of children.
Stools and perspiration SOUR. Incarcerated flatus.

Halbert relates a case of hyperchlorhydria treated withXXX.: Mrs. S., 40, had stomach troubles many years, for which she had bitter tonics, stomach douching, electric massage. She had acid belchings and vomitings of intensely sour food, extreme appetite, but gastric pains an hour or two after meals, stomach and bowels distended with gas almost constantly and flatulence was extremely irritating. Craved meats, but could not tolerate vegetables, craved solid food, but did not dare take it. Emaciated and cachectic.
Lavage was performed every alternate day and after it the patient was directed to eat a full meal, XXX 3x was given every two hours and steady improvement occurred in ally particulars, until health was practically restored.
Burt had a severe neuralgia in left temple, preventing sleep from midnight to daylight. He had also a "dull, heavy aching in stomach," and a "constant dull, heavy frontal headache, much worse by motion and reading".
The combination of gastric and head symptoms has placed XXX among the chief remedies in migraine and sick headaches. Among Houatt's symptoms was a facial neuralgia spreading to eyes, forehead with contraction of the jaw and features and also a sensation as if the jaws would be dislocated or fractured.
Hering gives this case of neuralgia as having been cured with XXX: "Jawbone feels as if dislocated intensely sour taste and vomiting."

The paralytic symptoms were very marked in one of the poisoning cases. Flatulence and diarrhea were produced and also constipation with constant ineffectual urging.
A. L. Fisher has relieved with XXX., when everything else failed, the intensely acid vomiting in four cases of gastric cancer.

Choudary Study of MM\

There are a host of other remedies like Aethusa, Calc. carb., Carbo veg., China, Kali sulph., Lycop., Magn. Carb., Natrum carb., Rheum and Acid sulph, that can present symptoms greatly similar.

What then are the special tracts of xxxxxx? It is the modality consisting of the nocturnal aggravation that characterizes the remedy. In the daytime the patient is not troubled so much; he moves about doing his day's work without much trouble or worry, but as night dawns his troubles start. Acid vomiting, acid eructations, rumbling, gurgling and heartburn, worry him all night and disturb his rest.

The head feels as if it were full of boiling water and that the brain was constantly knocking against the skull particularly when the head was moved.
This headache is associated with gastric symptoms mentioned above and is caused by fat, meat, cabbages, turnips, warm bread and pastry.
The jawbone feels as if it is disarticulated. If this neuralgia is associated with the acidity of the digestive tract there is hardly any chance of a mistake.
